It's interesting that you're talking about where certain samples were lifted from - nothing I recognise!
The sign (for me) of good sampling.
The sign (for me) that the breadth and scope of my music-listening is pretty narrow.  ;)
A lot of the sources are obscure/varied/brief...I think that's part of the game.

I do think a darkened room would improve the experience. I can only listen to Brave by Marillion if it's dark and I know I won't be disturbed.

I think this album might be similar.

Exchange sounds like Chicane in parts.

    And that's all folks!

Hope you enjoyed it. I haven't concentrated on it that much in years, maybe decades. What a great album. And thanks for your company.

    I just enjoyed the music this week rather than try too hard to analyse it.  Another great choice, thanks @markv ;

The only just released 'An Hour Before It's Dark' is excellent!

Outstanding hour! I was big in to the trip hop thing, I loved how dark and heavy some of it could be without being metal.
The bass and drums on Mezzanine are a triumph and carry the whole album. Each song adds a different flavour on top but the low end drive gets me every time.

That was good.  I hope it's not insulting to Massive Attack if I say it would make good background music while I'm working (...some background music annoys me and I have to turn it off!).

So there are Massive Attack fans of old on here tonight as well as some new ears who I think have appreciated the experience.
For both, I'd like to share this track, 'Live With Me', which is from their 'Collected' best of album. It's hauntingly brilliant. There are two videos for it, this is the unused version but the simplicity slays me.
Terry Callier was 60 when he recorded this.

Just catching up after work...So sounds like everyone really got into this one. Great choice of record. And I'm really pleased to see so many share my enthusiasm for 'Man Next Door'.

I'm going to give it a spin in the coming week I think.

@discostu- Pick any record you like my friend! It's a really great thing to do, and folks here are really so supportive and friendly. These listening parties really do bring out the positive and supportive side of this forum.

I'm also a fan of a mashup and I love this one. Beatles fans may be offended!
