I first heard these pickups at a Hiss Golden Messenger solo gig and fell in love. I now use the Black Angel or a Fishman Blackstack for gigging.

For me, they work especially well in a band setting as they seem less prone to feedback issues than other types of pickups and I just really like how they sound. I'm more than happy to use them for solo acoustic stuff too, if I can't use a mic. They are easy to fit and include a long lead that means you can just fit them without doing any alterations to the guitar. They also have a phase switch too, which is a nice touch. No battery to worry about either, although I think they work best with a preamp, if possible. 

IMHO, they are a great, do-it-all pickup and hard to get hold of at the moment.
