NAGD - Loef OM

What's Hot

6 months ago I bought a slope-shoulder dreadnought from Olav Loef. It's become my go-to guitar and the one I pick up to play every day. But then GAS set in for a smaller acoustic also, so I checked if he had an OM or smaller for sale, and I got the offer to buy "Tretti" (OM) and it arrived today, After the first hour of playing it's everything I wanted. So easy to play, lovely sound and most importantly, a clearly different sound compared to the dreadnought.

Nice-looking case

And two teasers

We have had guitar porn, now we get guitar strip-tease. :) Looking very nice so far.

Always my first question, what are the woods?

The wood choice is a bit interesting
Aged Swiss spruce top, walnut sides, burl maple back, mahogany neck, ebony fretboard and bridge
630 mm scale length, 45 mm wide nut, 14 fret to body, Waverly tuners

Nice. Love the burl maple back. The colour contrast of the sides is interesting. It's certainly one I would pick off the shop wall to try out. Enjoy playing it - but don't forget it's older brother!   Just had a look at his website, some great looking instruments.

Is that a cherry Sunburst top finish? I can't quite tell but it looks it :)

I won't forget it's older brother. Their characters are so different that depending on my mood I will pick up one or the other

In the builder's words "Red/purple sunburst on top, back and neck"

interesting shape,  more "mini dread"  than classic OM     and a 0 fret.................  what's the nut width ?

just because you don't, doesn't mean you can't
just because you do, doesn't mean you should.

Yep, cherry Sunburst. Not everyone likes such a finish but I do :)
