  • Q1:  Where did you username come from?

Its a combination of my name and something that one of our teachers used to shout at us when his classes got out of control,   which always happened.

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?

    I'm based in Ireland.

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?

My gigging days are behind me and the styles, genres, techniques and artists I try to copy fluctuate all the time and so does my aspirations. At the moment my main ambition is to play along to some of the more complex pieces of music I like and just get a personal sense that I'm a decent guitarist.

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?

I've downsized quite heavily over the past year but it was a core Silver Sky with a maple neck in Tungsten. Perfect guitar.

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?

Too hard to pick one but if push came to shove I'd pick Texas Flood by SRV

  • Hey everyone, I’m Evan. I picked up the bass when I was 12, starting with a Squier P-Bass before upgrading to a Jazz Bass at 17, which was 40 years ago and I still have it. Along the way, I’ve picked up a few vintage synths, a Telecaster, and a gold Gretsch.
These days, I’m co-founder of reSound.market, a marketplace for pre-loved and refurbished musical instruments, helping great gear find new homes. Looking forward to talking music, gear, and everything in between!

Q1: Where did your username come from?
It’s a mix of my first name and reSound, the marketplace I co-founded for pre-loved musical instruments.

Q2: Where in the world/country are you?
    London, UK

Q3: What's your main musical ambition?
To keep playing, keep learning and keep great instruments in the hands of people who’ll use them.

Q4: Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?
My first and now 40-year-old Fender Jazz Bass.

Q5: Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?
Impossible question, but if I have to pick… Heroes from David Bowie

    Hiya

I'm Tommy. My username is a combination of my first name and surname.

    2) london, uk.

    3) my main musical ambition is to actually finish my own record instead of dicking around with new pedals. Gas was way more manageable when I actually had a band and needed to be ready to play.

    4) Hmmmmmmm. Such a quick turnaround these days but I'll go with my cherry burst jazzmaster. Stunning finish on that thing and I've stuck some cunife humbuckers for proper growl.

    5) That's an impossible question but the first thing the spang to mind was Joy division - love will tare us apart. I have to stop typing now before I cheat.

Hi all, just back from a self-imposed break, facilitated by @digitalscream and @Roland ;; - thanks for your help!

I originally migrated over from Musicradar many moons ago, so I never did this intro thing. Now seems like a good opportunity!

Q1:  Where did you username come from?

My actual name! Or at least most of it.

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?

Leigh-on-Sea, though I've lived in Salford, Manchester, Peterborough & London.

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?

Just keeping on with the Beatles Tribute (£££) and the indie band (fun)

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?

My 1974 Tele Custom with bigsby

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?

"Nothing but a heartache" by the Flirtations. It will change tomorrow.

The break was great. I regained a bit of perspective and got the payrise I was pursuing at work.

I did NOT, however, manage my other goal of taking my mind off gear. Instead I bought and amp and loaded it with speakers worth way more than the amp itself

I'm not a fan of giving too much personal detail over t'internet, but here goes.

    1) Wooders is a nickname. As is Woody. Can't remember who called me Wooders first, or when, but the two work.

    2) In Kent, on London borders.

    3) I'd like to do an open mike/play a song or two at a gig one day

    4) Oh dear. How do I choose? I have a small selection of electric and acoustic guitars. Mostly budget, along with some self builds. they all have different things going on and I can pick a favourite, until I pick another one up! So I'm going to go with my most used bit of gear. Boss Waza Air Headphones. I'm a tinkerer/plinkerer and this bit of kit has given me more time with a guitar in my hands. So yeh, the Boss Waza Air.

    5) Nope! That's just not fair and pretty much impossible. I can't even narrow down to a genre. I mean I got turn on to classical music about the same time as 80's rock. Heart and Holst entered the foray about the same time. I grew up on radio in the 70's, so 'classic' rock and disco rock my boat just the same. Abba and Led Zep ring my bell both the same.

    6) I realise there isn't a six, but hey. I started playing late 20's and got nowhere fast. stopped. Started again early thirties and practiced. Did ok. had a sort of band (drummer with bad timing, good singer when she didn't belt too loud, bass player that may or may not turn up) and we went rehearsals for about a year, once a week. Got ok at basics. Singer left, stopped playing.
Started up again just before lockdown. blew off some cobwebs but, concussion made a big hinderance. It took over two years to get my left and right hand to start being friends again! Not that you'd think it listening to them, but at least they're not constantly trying to do different things now. Mostly. I started doing my own set ups, then building my own. I have a pretty decent tool kit and enjoy putting a guitar together just as much as playing.
    I like guitars

I’m Seb, live in Surrey but grew up in London.

I just want to make music. I overthink. I practice. But  I struggle to make actual music these days. I gigged a bit in my teens, but that’s over 20 years ago.

My Silver Sky is my main thing. It was my 40th birthday present to myself. It’s by far the best guitar I’ve ever owned and it has helped me become a better player (because I can’t ever blame the guitar. It is so much better than I am!)

it’s not my favourite song anymore, but I think the song that really made me want to play electric guitar was Money for Nothing. I had a little tape ghetto blaster (albeit a suburban U.K. spec thing, suitable for a 9 year old boy!) and I used to blast that cassette - copied from my dad’s vinyl - flat out while playing air guitar. A few years later I saved up my pocket money and bought my first guitar
