  • Hi All, I'm Chris, the Project Techie, and I'm an electric guitar enthusiast and minor collector (14 and counting) and 60's & 70's rock fan

Q1:  Project Techie was my project management business until I retired a couple of years ago

Q2:  I'm in Nailsea, near Bristol - home of Adge Cutler for those of you old enough to remember

Q3:  My main musical ambition is to be able to play the big solos (Sultans; Stairway; Hotel California) from the 60s and 70s competently with backing tracks

Q4:  My "best" bit of gear is a Fender Performer Hum Tele which I've had from new - bought from PMT, sadly now closed

Q5:  My #1 ever track is Heartbreaker (Led Zep)

Hi! I can't really remember where my username comes from, I've used it for a long time both in  online games and other forums. I'm a Norwegian from Norway and very much a kid of the 80s. I had lots of musical ambitions when I was younger. Like being the fastest shredder in the world, me and another million teenagers at the time. These days I don't really care as much when it comes to ambitions

I have accumulated a lot of guitars, 15+ I think, the best has to be my Ibanez RG7PCMLTD Premium and/or my Jackson SL7Q Pro Series Soloist, though I can have just as much fun playing a budget guitar. I let the guitar and the amp lead how I play. My best amphead is probably the Framus Cobra, the most fun is my Peavey XXL. I only have two 4x12 cabs right now, and can't pick a favourite. I also have a thing for 19" rack units, and have a poweramp and several preamps and effect units, stuff I couldn't afford when I was younger. I remember looking at them as these amazing things I didn't have the money for, these days I can pick them up second hand at mostly very low prices, as there are few of us still interested in rack units, at least over here

I don't think I have a number 1 ever track. I've had number 1 tracks over periods, it changes though. I guess for the last couple of years it has been Show Ya's  戒厳令の街, with the English title Cry for the Freedom (the Japanese title is City under Siege/Martial Law or something like that). You can't play that on Spotify outside of Japan though, even though it is on their 1989 best selling album, and perhaps the most commercially successful all female group metal album ever. If you want a pick from Spotify you can play outside of Japan I'll pick Show Ya's 孤独の迷路 (Labyrinth of Loneliness). Those songs either resonates with you or they don't, if they do you'll love them

@Bogey079 ;; welcome to the forum.  That's quite a lot of guitars.   Great to have you here and please join in the discussions.

Oops, I popped into the Politics and Economics forum. I didn't realise this forum was so infested with Antifa facistoids, so I'm off. Please delete my account. Even though we don't get sent to prison in Norway for our internet activity, I would appreciate no association to this forum whatsoever

  • Hi everyone,

Feels good to find a community as interested in music and guitars as I am.

Q1. Honestly it was just a bit of a play on words for a nickname I had as a kid.

Q2:  While I’m originally from Canada, I’ve lived in England for 5 years, near Gloucester.

Q3:  While this has changed a lot during my life, at this stage, I’m just looking to expand my gear collection but I also hope to join a band again in the near future.

Q4:  While I don’t have much, as I had to sell nearly everything before the move, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by my Yamaha Revstar Standard that’s really helped me get back into playing music.

Q5:  There are way too many songs for me to list, but if I had to pick only one, it would probably be Time by Pink Floyd

    Hi @thumpingrug, ;

Thanks so much for the kind words.

Moving to a different country has been a much larger adjustment than I thought it would be, and doing so during the pandemic wasn't ideal either. Although, it was nice to have almost the entire plane to myself which I doubt will ever happen again.

On the whole, I'm glad I made the move and have come to quite enjoy many parts of Britain, and British culture, that I would've never been exposed to before.

@ZatchTheValley ;   Lockdown was a weird time for us all, but relocating to a new country must have had many challenges.  Glad that its worked out for you and that you have had the opportunity to explore.

Hello everyone, I have just joined this forum.
I play guitar (badly).  I just chose a random username.  Located in Oxfordshire, UK. Love to dabble in audio mixing and help with sound reinforcement for a big band. Own a few guitars which I try rotate them as often as I can.  Have no particular ambition, just practicing guitar and do occasional pub gig with a seventies themed band, all very layed back.  I enjoy more getting together with the band and going through a few songs than focusing on doing gigs.  Dabble a bit in Gig Performer and Midi guitar too.
Love any songs that have a nice melody.

  • Hi everyone,

I realised that although I’ve replied to a few threads over the past months, I never actually introduced Rawrawk properly.

Rawrawk is a small company focused on designing and building guitar gear with a strong emphasis on acoustics and practical design. Our first product, the Quasar guitar cabinet, was launched a while ago and since then we’ve continued refining and improving the design based on testing and feedback.

More recently we’ve also started expanding the range and are now building pedalboards and other accessories.

The Fretboard has always seemed like a great place for thoughtful discussions about gear and tone, so we’re glad to be part of the community and look forward to contributing where we can.

    All the best,
    LP

    Morning everyone.

Q1 - My username comes from Sweynes Eye. Apparently a viking name of Sweyne sailed into Swansea Bay and named the place where the river flows into Swansea Bay as Sweynes Eye. Which morphed into Swansea over time. That's from the little I know.

Q2 - Swansea in case you hadn't guessed.

Q3 - To just keep playing as long as i'm able arthritis permitting. And hopefully keep improving.

Q4 - Two i'm afraid. Can't really split them. Fylde Ken Nicol signature and Lowden 025.

    Q5 - Really can't answer this one.
