1 Kev S S is the first letter of my surname.

    2 Edinburgh ,Scotland

3 To get more recorded music out there before I snuff it..
Nearly died a couple of years ago.
I want to leave something behind.

    4. Just now I am enjoying my HeadRush Pedalboard.
I love my old Les Paul Classic though,
       Or my Guild D50 too..

Right OK my Les Paul Classic although it is getting near time for a refret.

5 I had to think about this hard..
I have an extremely varied taste in music.
I'm going for the Ruts. Babylon's Burning as I think it has a guitar riff that is
under appreciated and as good as all the well known Classic Rock Riffs..
       Maybe better than some..
I wish I had wrote that one..

Q1:  Where did you username come from?

It's quite obscure in other communities I'm a part of, but I should think it's fairly obvious to this group! I chose the Ionian mode as a name back when the internet was young and people used a Netscape browser. It's stuck with me ever since.

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?

    I'm in Kent, UK

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?

I am fortunate - I have achieved my musical ambitions. I studied music at university and have worked in the industry for the last twenty years in various support roles. I have booked music for film scores, I have supported some of the best orchestral musicians in the UK, I have been a part of the London jazz scene and I am now working on music education strategy. If I have unfulfilled ambitions, they revolve around getting up the confidence to play again.

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?

Meh - I've just bought a Jackson Dinky Pro as I need to impress the kids with my guitar until I can impress them with my musical chops. The rest of my gear dates from the 90s and the budget I had as a student.

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?

Impossible to answer. But if I was to say what guitar track has had the most influence on my playing, I would have to say "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" by Pink Floyd. As a new guitarist aged 13 I would watch the Pulse tour video and play along with Dave Gilmour - even learning to pull the same gurning faces when I bent a string!

Hi, my name is Craig. I learned a few open chords in my twenties on a battered old 20 quid acoustic from a bargain stores. I then bought a Yamaha Pacifica 112 and a Washburn D10 acoustic. The internet was in it's infancy back then and I couldn't afford a tutor, so became disillusioned quickly. Then a second wife came along so the Yamaha was sold, but I kept hold of the acoustic....just in case....
Fast forward 25 years, I'm now 51 and have started to learn again, this time properly. I have been playing since October and my initial progress has been surprisingly quick, but I don't expect an easy ride. I spent the first couple of months learning on the acoustic before adding an Epiphone SG G400 Pro to my armory. I try and get an hour and a halfs practice in every day in the hope that it will all stick!
    Thanks for reading.

Q1:  Where did you username come from?

I wish I has an interesting story attached to it. Truth is, I spotted it on the side of a Plumbers van and thought, 'That rolls off the tongue nicely'.

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?

    Sleepy Suffolk

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?

Just to see month on month improvement really. Ask me in a years time.

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?

Guitars aside, my String Swing wall hangers. Keeps the guitars out of harms way.

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?

Ah, the unanswerable question. I'm going to say Patti Smith, 'Because The Night'

  • Q1:  Where did you username come from?

It's from my personal domain/site that I used to work on heavily many years ago but now don't (I won't link to it as it could be seen as spamming)

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?

    East Midlands, UK

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?

Hmm not sure I have any left! I started early and was in bands from 15. I let the guitar slide a bit in my 20s (I still played, just wasn't in gigging bands). Probably want to resume solo gigs or band work.

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?

Not sure about best, but my early 90s LP Studio which I got for my 18th is my most treasured one. Doesn't look so good any more and it's not worth a lot, but still sounds awesome and I never have to adjust my playing to it - I just can always reach for a full tone bend no issue.

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?

Guh, can't think of anything not cheesy. I think hearing the Beano album really changed the kind of snarling tone I wanted and made me want to add a lot more character to my playing. It always depressed me as a young man to hear Clapton playing in such a hackneyed way later in his career when he was this ferocious bluesman early on.

Made me buy a bluesbreaker mk1 for £54 (my first pedal) which I've also still got.

I'm based in North Norfolk, UK . I'm currently in a covers band and my musical ambition is to get out there and gig .We're almost there , so, fingers crossed! My best bit of gear is probably my Carr Slant 6v 2x12, a heavy bugger but totally glorious. I've got wide tastes in music but Steppin Out by Beano era Clapton is a favourite.
