I find even if you list something really clearly and explicitly as Collection Only you still get people asking if you'll deliver as they've no way of travelling from Timbuktu to Birmingham this week. He clearly works by there and that's where he's able to meet up to sell stuff. I've picked up stuff from workplaces like that (I remember getting a Rat pedal from a barbers in brum) and likewise I've arranged collection meetups in and around Brum city centre because that's where I was most of the time.
Please note my communication is not very good, so please be patient with me

In their defence, I don't like letting complete strangers into my house either. 99% of what I sold has been at a "neutral venue".
I sold an SG to someone once at my flat in London and he sat there playing it for 1 hour. He did buy it but my god did he outstay his welcome. Fucking psychopath

Maybe, the Gumtree seller is homeless? The stipulated collection point might be a short walk from his usual park bench? Identifying features: stubby roll-up, docile mongrel dog in tow, shoulder bag full of Big Issue.
    Be seeing you.

FFS, it's a cheap pedal, not blueprints for a Russian nuclear submarine!  :)

I think it IS the blueprints for a Russian nuclear submarine and the bit about a Boss pedal is the code phrase. Which begs the question: how are you supposed to respond?

I think it's testament to the effect this place has that I genuinely excluded the 'on' at first glance.

Someone tried my Kemper out for an hour and then didn't buy it. That was fucking annoying.

I think it's about setting expectations.

If you're selling a fender hrd and I know I want one I think 5 minutes to see it working is reasonable.  If we choose to chat about gear for a bit longer, also reasonable as long as we're in agreement.

If in this case I'm coming to try your kemper and have never tried one I'd have that conversation up front. "I've never tried one of these and don't want to take a punt. Are you ok for me to give it a try for 20 minutes?  I'll bring money, if it does what I want I'll buy it there and then.

There is the possibility that I won't buy it. Just want to check how you feel about that."

I'd probably want to have that conversation on the phone and not by text too. Just to get a feel.

I did have someone from on here try out a guitar for an hour once and didn't buy it. That was ok. He wasn't dicking me around he really tried to bond with it but didn't.

I have a friend who specialises in helping people with this "gray area drinking."

Apparently it's a huge problem. People who are not alcoholic but who's relationship with the drink is definitely less than healthy.
