  • This MJW combo is a lovely amp, beautiful cleans, but I wasn't keen on the sound when driven.
Thought I'd try the Eminence cannabis rex that @TheMarlin kindly gave me with the amp...Wow! Oh yeah baby, now we're talking, sounds awesome, can't wait to get it down the rehearsal room.
It's gonna give the Maz18 a run for its money, can't believe I was gonna let this go for £250.
Exactly the speaker I gigged with it for 5 years!!
5 years! What did you replace it with?
Can’t believe the transformation this speaker made. Such a great little combo.
I use a Tonemaster Deluxe nowadays - I do miss the MJW and the new 20 watt Marshall JTM combo does appeal. There's a warmth and thickness from the Early Marshall style amps that works with overdrive extremely naturally.

The Tonemaster is great though, super light, fantastic DI, takes pedals well and I can get some warmth with the volume up at 5-6 and the attenuator knocking it down.

Glad you discovered the right speaker. It seems to like speakers with a smooth top and a thick, firm low end. I did a lot of speaker swaps and the Mesa/Celestion C90 Black Shadow and the WGS ET65 also suited it well.
I keep thinking about one of the TM deluxes, do they take fuzz pedals well?

I think so - same as any Deluxe would anyway. I guess NOT like a Marshall would, if it's the fuzz face into plexi thing you're after.

  • Im sure you’re aware of this, but that is a FULLY BATSHIT price for a JTM45. I cannot believe it’s not sold.

  • I know mate, I got it for a £725 which I thought was good. They’re normally up for around £850-£900.
Stuff just not shifting at the moment, no worries, it’s a lovely amp to be stuck with.
Might be better to withdraw it soon and re-advertise for a more sensible price once Xmas is out the way.

  • Fully agree. I have one, otherwise I’d be on it like a fat lad on chips. I think you’re giving it away at this price - genuinely when they’re cooking I think there’s no better sounding amp on the market.

    We’re all in financial ruin.

  • Zilla cab sold.
This little Cornell traveller is the perfect amp if you need something to carry round your mates, small, light, but sounds deceivingly lovely for its size. And the attenuation works great, especially for 'dirty blues'.

I took my Strat to the rehearsal room last night and my God, through that JTM45 it's awesome...to the point I nearly withdrew it.
4 valve heads is a bit of an extravagance, but they're all great...might just keep the lot as a xmas prezzie to myself

  • After playing the JTM45 last night I've decided not to give it away as it's such a great amp, so I have now priced it more realistically(the same price I paid for it...which is a more than fair price).

I think that’s the right move Steve - I sold mine a while back, in a similar fashion, incrementally lowering the price. If I had the space I’d own one again in a second.

Best modern production amp you can buy for that price. So responsive to your other gear - different, guitars, speakers, pedals, even tubes you put in it.

  • Yeah, I absolutely love mine. I have a 2061X too which is a glorious, hardwired affair, and yet I still find myself favouring the JTM45
