We had 10 mins to set up and zero sound check, but still turned out pretty well even though just recorded on someone's iPhone.

I only use the clean channel, this time just pushed a bit with a Drivemaster pedal, in fact this amp has the channel switching relay bypassed and the Drive channel knobs removed, just so I can't accidentally switch on the vileness.


Strat bridge pickups need pushed clean channels in my opinion, which is why they fell out of favour from 1980-ish when everyone discovered the convenience of MV amps. Hendrix and Blackmore's bridge pickups sounded huge!

I've got to ask - how on earth are you getting away with virtually cranking the clean channel on a Hot Rod Deluxe, Goldtop?

I once had my HRD mkIV on just under halfway at an outside marquee pub courtyard gig unmic-ed and IMMEDIATELY got asked to turn down by the sound guy - I was just burying the vocals thru the PA.

@CaseOfAce ; I use the guitar volume and string muting a lot and always listen to the singer rather than myself when I'm playing - you can't bury the vocal if you're trying to hear it.
