Don't these budget lines that are now so well made that they trump many more expensive past guitars ( as seems to be a popular opinion from some who appear to know on social media) do it for you ladies and gents? Or is this more about attaching a better time in your life to a guitar model or brand?

Well that’s probably just tripled their value!

Westone was my immediate thought too, but although they were definitely very good for the money (my Spectrum is still going strong almost 40 years later), I think @guitarjack66 is right, it's partly because of the nostalgia - that Spectrum was my first electric and I spent so long studying their catalogue, the Thunder, Spectrum and Prestige models are all burned on my memory!

She's got a least three, as I saw her swap one of the red ones in that pic for another and there are photos of her with a black one.

Whether or not the brand starts producing again is not so relevant for me, as I tend to buy used anyway.
I'd like to see John Birch guitars - they were always prepared to go off-piste.
As with other posts, I've always had a hankering for a USA Hamer. I do have a cheap Chinese one with a non-adjustable bridge and it is rather good.
As far as brands go, there are few who have stuck to their thing rather than offshoring or selling out; Rickenbacker is the main one which springs to mind - they even run from the same factory in California.
It'd be good to see one or two of the bought-up-and-obliterated brands back out in the wild: Kubicki, Steinberger, BC Rich, Hamer, especially.

I’m also a big RD fan, and would also love to own a USA mockingbird.
Paul Chapman was fond of the odd BC Rich as well.
Bloody hell!  Three of us!  Yay!  I'll play 'Rock And Roll, Hoochie Koo' in celebration :-)
I own a RD album, and loved his work with Jonny Winter.

I'd love to see Maverick make a return - I GASd over them pretty bad back in the day. I think they managed to do something slightly different to the other shred sticks that didn't look horrendously tacky.

Absolutely this. Neck is just that useful bit deeper than the full on flys (flies?)

    Echo thoughts about proper Steinbergers.

Will throw in 'Ibanez Blazer/ Roadster / original Talman'

I remember a brand from over 50 yrs ago called CSL and I remember playing a light metallic blue CSL Thinline Tele at the Arcade Music Shop in North Finchley around 1972/73 that was very nice but it was about £85 with no case and I couldn't afford it.
I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)
