I guess they clearly think this competes with Quad Cortex rather than Helix. They’d have been better off following the no -menu market with high quality modelling that they nailed with the Tonemaster amps. Something like the Milkman / blackstar / victory pedal amps, or even a knob based desktop modeller like a modern POD.

I just don’t get it, all that I/O points towards loads of flexibility, but wasn’t the USP of the Tonemaster amps that all the DSP went towards a singular purpose and amp like ease of use.
Sort of, but also the single-unit plug & play thing. Lightweight, DI out, attenuator, USB interface.

This plus the powered cab that seems to also exist is a nice end-to-end solution for gigging. Def feels too expensive at face value, but I guess we'll see if there's anything in terms of hidden features that aren't obvious just from look at pics

  • I'd have much preferred Tone Master pedals of the individual amps, like the UA pedals (Dream etc.).

  • Fender's CS pricing have obviously gone to their head, but this is no battered strat or tele.

  • I'm definitely interested in this, but that price...ouch!

  • There will be a CS heavy relic version to differentiate from the other modelers.

The cabs are class D 1kW apparently ... which means they are probably using PA speakers rather than guitar ... and possibly the Icepower 1000ASP SMPS and power amp module.

I don't know if the cabs are stereo but they would sound better and larger indoors if they were .. or maybe the idea is to buy 2 and run in stereo.

I always thought (and said) the idea of the Tonemaster DSP only modeling one Fender amp was stupid  ... so totally understand the concept of this floor processor. Although it's not for me, digital modellers are very popular for both home and live gigs so Fender need a presence in the market.

Someone on the Helix group said it is €1800!
It must have a power amp in there....surely?! For that price.
    Doesn't look like it has.
Factor in Italy's insane, multi-level purchase tax structure and the figure of €1800 might work out nearer £1250.

There are quite a few posts on the TGP thread, obviously, including a brief video (but no demo).

    Leaked early to provide hype.

Official release day is tomorrow apparently - await 1 million Youtube reviews (ADVERTS).

I get it, but the sounds are the sounds, and it sounds... Fine? His own presets were decent, but the user presets were pretty awful IMO.

I usually ignore stock presets and start from
    scratch.

I doubt Fender would release a substandard product at this price point, I bet it’s great, but will it be difficult to break into the market share of Helix etc?

Line 6 in particular have a proven record of good customer service with the Helix/HX products, and the periodic updates have been, and hopefully will continue to be fantastic.

  • The touch screen doesn't look particularly responsive for a touch device. Based on these first few demos, I'm mostly intrigued by the FRFR, looks like it's a couple of speakers in there.

I just watched Ola's video.  Sounds good, and appears to be an amalgamation of all the other HQ modellers out there at the minute. In a good way I mean.  There are features that immediately recognisable as having come from the Helix, Headrush and QC.

That is a very high price though, so this would have to absolutely nail everything.  There looked to be a small amount of lag in the touch screen, but if they've had to bury it under a thick slab of glass (or equiv.) for long-term durability then that makes sense.

I think it will come down to long-term support.  People seem to be very disappointed by the long-term support and updates for the QC.  Fractal & Line 6 are the only ones who appear to be completely on the ball with long-term product support in the market.

Theyre not paid for, "I reached out to them and they sent me a £1500 pedal for free to review" ....Hmm that sound like a benefit in kind to me..
