Gretsch New Yorker 1954 - Archtop made in the old Brooklyn Factory.

Purchased from TR Crandall’s, New York in 2022.

Beautiful sounding and playing instrument, all original except for a re-fret I had done by Jim Fleeting to add to the wonderful playability. 

I have used this guitar a lot for performing and recording. 

The pickup is installed to the pick guard - not the body! This way that has been no interference with the acoustic instrument, the pickup fits in lovely and in no way gets in the way of the strings, it’s a lovely fit and a top quality pick up ! (If you want to hear this pick up used by a pro listen to Julian Lage’s first album ‘Sounding Point’.

I spent a lot of time researching the right pickup for this guitar, and I in no way wanted to alter the instrument as it has such a beautiful woody tone.  

I picked the guitar because it sounded almost more like a parlour guitar than an arch top tonally. Don’t get me wrong, it is an arch top, but it just has that golden bronze tone I associate more with flattops, and the arch top quality mixed with this reminds me of the elegant sort of pop you get out of a smaller bodied flattop.

Price reflects the adjustable pole PAF pickup which itself can only be order from America so costs you upwards of 300 pounds with import duties and installation to the scratch guard (done so beautifully here by Jim Fleeting)
