My Tele is heavier than my Les Paul

This isn’t the normal way of things… is it?

Suspect it’s mostly the Tele’s fault - quite a hefty one I guess.

I think it’s bit of both, that’s a light Les Paul too.

This is exactly what I’m worried about.  There’s clearly something deeply strange going on.  I just don’t know what to believe anymore.

It’s Friday, it’s the bank holiday, you need to binge watch 3 Body Problem in search for answers.

What you have there is an unusually light Les Paul and a not so unusually heavy Tele. Congrats on the first, not so much on the second.  :)

I watched a video of a Les Paul that had a Tele bridge pickup yesterday, so the world is possibly going sideways

So what do we consider an average weight for either?
A Deuce , a Tele and a cup of tea.

7lb or less is optimal on an Ash bodied tele.

Don't really care how heavy a les paul is.

My John 5 Triple Tele is pretty heavy; I haven't weighed it, though.

My avri 52 tele is heavier & has a bigger neck than my Les Paul. Always makes me feel weird.

Some years ago, I was shocked to find that I had a heavy (8.75lb-ish) strat.

I'd owned a couple of Tokai LP copies and a Burny LP custom copy that *felt* a lot heavier. I don't think I weighed them as I'd be very suggestible to the new thinking that if they were heavy, they'd be crap. The Burny was a monster but I'm guessing the Tokais were around the typical 9lb weight.

My, eventual, point is that the strat's more ergonomic design seemed to make it feel much lighter. Not sure if this applies to teles though. You seem surprised that it was heavier than the LP so maybe it does?

I play sitting down. Weight is fairly irrelevant as far as I'm concerned, have some great hefty guitars.

No, it’s a mid-90s MIJ which I stripped and refinished.  Would have been even heavier before I guess, with the amount of poly lacquer that came off it.

It's pretty close, just take the strings off the Tele. Job done.
