I got my wee boy a Quest 2, its really bloody good! When he is at his mums I play Population One, the problem is its full of very young kids so its hard to build up a team of people who arnt kids. There are lots of adults on there too and most of the time playing with or against kids isnt a problem , its just more fun with adults and easier to communicate in order to play the game at adult level, although some kids are really good players anyway.
Anyhow,
I ventured into chat rooms, same thing, a lot of kids.
So, I looked for adult only rooms and found one, The Sunset Bar , they ask age and DOB before granting access into the bar.
And it is a bar, you can buy virtual drinks from a real bar person, the people on the door are real people, its just like a real bar, and it was good fun. I met some interesting people and had a real good laugh, most people were just sitting home having a few beers and enjoying the craic as was I.
I couldnt believe this was an actual thing, such a good way to catch up with friends, meet new people and have a laugh.
Is VR going to be some kind of weird future for people? I mean, it already is in a way?
A Deuce , a Tele and a cup of tea.

I have Virtuoso which is an interesting way to create music.
.... now we need a new 65" tv after a "little accident"
Made me sea sick flying around.
For all its wonders, the internet and its social media appear to be having a profoundly negative impact on young peoples well being. I hear so many stories now, from people I know whose kids have anxiety issues and are struggling with the thought of going out into the real world and socialising. Obviously this was also impacted by the pandemic and lockdown.
So, what games are available and how do I buy them? Do they come on physical media (DVD) or as a digital download?
You can wifi it to your home wifi where there is built in apps like Netflix/Amazon Prime where you can watch the movie in VR, in a virtual cinema.
There is an onboard speaker, or you can use headphones.
As far as gaming goes I think its on another level, other stuff though, like immersive videos, stunt planes, the ISS , tours of things like rain forests, going free climbing , nothing comes close.
No subscription, lots and lots of free stuff to do, decent free games, no way will I ever buy another consol.
I needed a phone to set it up through an app, I had to set up the account online, but apart from all that its stand alone. It has parental stuff to keep kids safe and can mirror to Pc to keep an eye on what they are doing.
If you are going to allow kids on it, I have found most adults to be fairly well behaved, the kids though , some of them are just foul, they are just kids but you dont want younger children running around using the N word or mum insults, that kind of thing, you can turn chat off, turn the mic off etc or configure it to only chat between friends.
It can be quite scary at first, I suffer from vertigo and some of the stuff, for instance climbing up the side of a building in pop one, if I look down I feel it, some immersive videos can set it off like following a free climber up a huge cliff face or sitting in a stunt plane.
If you get one look at referalls first, you can get rewards and stuff, do this before registering it. Lots of FB groups can give you referrals.
