The trinity of big-ass Batmobiles is complete. It's the last one after with Ecto-1 and the Delorean for my most-wanted list. Can't wait

EDIT - turning this into a more generic Lego thread - pile on!!

Ha!  I had the original 1960s Corgi Batmobile when I was a nipper.  Plastic flames came out the back and it fired rockets.  Happy days!
Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose

I wanted to like it, but the wheelarches are dreadful. I thought this one was better.

  • Yeah, the wheel arches are sub-optimal. I'm guessing someone will have an option to improve them on bricklink by Christmas

That is a good point. Otherwise it looks great.

The Countach was, I thought, similarly spoiled by the wheel arches.

My favourite recent build was the Viking Village.

  • I've renamed this because I want to talk lego but not just Batmobiles and couldn't find another generic lego thread.

I just finished the BMW bike and I still just don't like modern Technic that much. It's all pegs and beams and no bricks and hardly any clever mechanical stuff, except the cars which all have a gearbox (that's also boring tbh) and bugger all else.

Anyway. I'm going to do something else next. Maybe the Saturn V, or poss the big-ass Millennium Falcon

  • There's only 2 things that I don't like about Lego:

    The space it takes up

Standing on a Lego brick with your bare feet.

The top of my CNC lathe is the current home to this pair -

The Technic Landrover is currently sat on the shelf above my computer, along with all the little Technic sets from the past few years.

The smaller Technic sets are better. The little buggy is ace, as is the recycling truck.

I'm building Notre Dame at the mo.

This may be the answer. I have the Mars Rover in the cupboard, so I think that should be good.

I also have the Yamaha bike which looks great but I'm wondering if it will be too similar to the BMW now.

Agreed! I’ve been enjoying the midi scale kits more than the larger or UCS ones for quite a while. I’ve got the bat-set already but don’t feel the need for the ‘big’ one.

The newer Star Wars midi range are great too - the Falcon is an excellent build with some really fun details on the internals.

I've got both (a mate has the BMW just now), and there is sufficient differences between them to be not that similar.

I do have a weak spot for Technic bikes, and am tempted by the current Kawasaki.

Ok that’s good to know - will hang onto it then :)

The Yamaha is better than the BMW but still has front springs that are too stiff, so if you press down the forks flex but don't compress.

I have Lego Millennium Falcon 75192 sat unopened in it's box in my wardrobe ready to start build on January 2nd as one my first retirement goals. So, instead of going back to work after the Christmas/New Year break I will be building lego!

I'm probably breaking the forum rules (unless that only applies to the classifieds) - this isn't official lego..........

It was however awesome fun and far larger than one expected.

Zavvi have some hefty discounts at the mo - the Ideas tree house is about £55 off (and a great build, though the last few stages doing the top branches are a little repetitive).

I still have the Technic Sian in its shipping hi - it was on a good deal, but I'm not sure I like the giant Technic sets as much as the smaller ones. Mentioned it earlier, but this one is just brilliant - a tenner with suspension, a little engine, doors, and rollerskate style steering. And small enough to drive around a desk.

All the little Technic sets are good. I think it's because they have to think harder to fit stuff in.

I’m a somewhat casual Lego fan. Got some SW pieces I’ve built in the past. But never had the space (or money) to make it a real hobby.

However, my 6 year old loves it and I’ve used it as a gateway to introduce Star Wars (he’s not quite there in terms of enjoying the original films yet…finds them a bit on the scary side (arms being chopped off etc), but he loves the Lego variations and is suitably obsessed with some of the sets.

He’s built a number of sets meant for higher age groups pretty much by himself and has a number of non-collectible star ships which have been great builds.

He does have the book which details the history of Star Wars Lego which is proving an issue because he really wants a number of the discontinued models. I found a second hand Sandcrawler for £400+ ffs :D

we’re off to LEGOLAND on Thurs for two days, so if anyone has any recommendations/tips (with two kids 6/nearly 7 and 2) then I’m all ears.

I was there with a mate and his family a couple months ago.
There's an app/website you can look at that gives you a real time update on ride queues, so you can plan your next ride (his wife was dealing with that, and we were just going where she said we were going next, so I'm not sure of the exact details!).

I can advise that Autumn's Riding Adventure was not the best ride to start the day not long after having breakfast!  :s
