it’s got Comp, Gate, Modulation, Delay and Reverb and EQ all built in, then I realised I could combine all those effects with captures of gain pedals etc.
so I’ve got a cleanish Klon with the Flanger effect, give a little bit of gain and push when I engage the pedal so I don’t lose any gain or impact when I engage the ‘Flanger’ pedal as I usually experience.
Anyway - I have a Presonus iTwo, which has two inputs. The output is two 1/4" jacks - L/R...I'm guessing they can be panned left and right to separate the guitar and amp signals...could be wrong. I have a mic. I have a basic DI box. I don't have a load box any more but I wouldn't mind getting one. Initially I guess I can capture the whole rig though, just to try it.
Do I have the necessary gear to do a capture with the Tonex software? Is there a numpties guide somewhere? I tried YT but couldn't really find the right thing.
Thanks!
I pre-ordered the Satch model, mainly to use as something to use as a simple Gtr interface, and watching this video-
was reminded of one of the bugs / features that STILL catch me out from time to time.
Notice, after the first few gainy amps, when he selects a clean amp and says it is low volume, cranks the vol to 10--then knobs carry the same settings to every subsequent amp???
It is mentioned in the comments, one person suggests it is related to which tab he has selected, and another says it is related to settings made in the advanced amp settings.
I suspect, a 'tone model' should ALWAYS show the knobs at a default setting of '5', which would be the actual capture setting.
It is easier to see on some amps ( Fender styles are a bit harder to spot ) but obviously, if the settings carry over from amp to amp, it makes comparisons very tricky.
The pedal itself is very reactive to changes in gain and volume, and when it is set just right, the tone model reacts very well to volume changes on the guitar - one of the things that makes it so good IMO.
It also might explain why some people are having trouble, if a knob is altered in the tone model, and the settings are carried over to the next patch selected.
Things might change with the editor update, and I hope this bug / feature has been fixed.
Agreed with @thecolourbox 's sentiments about it being fine within the confines of February.
On the contrary. I'm hoping it'll take me from "This UI is fucking shit" to "This UI is fucking great".
Ninety Orange -> ToneX ONE -> Ibanez Chorus -> Keeley Eccos delay -> audio interface -> studio monitors
That sounds great, exactly as you'd expect; FRFR is functionally no different to studio monitors.
this evening I’ve had a Warm Audio Bender into a Univibe, then Tonex, then a UAFX Orion delay and then into the power amp input on a Katana.
Sounds ace!
Fancy a laugh: the unofficial King of Tone waiting list calculator:
https://kottracker.com/
The chain you are describing can be done on the Tonex itself, the fx can be put pre or post amp, and if you are using FRFR, or studio monitors, you are basically hearing the recorded sound of the chain, as if using headphones.
I'm happy using mine through a hifi amp, into a guitar cab, so it isn't technically correct, but still sounds ace.
My thinking is, we aren't trying to reproduce frequencies outside what would be coming from a guitar cab anyway, so why wouldn't a cab work well enough to play through?
Any problems can be fixed with the Eq in the preset, and this will be a lot easier when the editor drops in a couple of weeks.
I received my Satch Tonex One yesterday, and must say the patches are excellent, around 70 tone models, and 20 presets inc FX on the pedal, really well done selection, and I will be digging in to some of these once I have backed up the patches on my PC.
