  • Silly thing won’t let me quote properly… was just going to say, how did you miss me selling one of these really cheaply very recently?!
I didn’t! I already have an ‘88* LM308N and a ‘91* OP07 model, and now the BRAT too! I was tempted even so though, but that just felt greedy

Another clone worth trying is the Donner Dark Mouse.  I had one and it was a pretty good clone.  It also has two modes, one being a standard Rat and the other, I think I’m right in saying, was a clone of the You Dirty Rat. I could be wrong on that score.  Anyway, it was a great pedal. I only sold it because I decided to lose a lot of pedals from my travelling light pedalboard

The one you linked a week ago does seem interesting. Zander makes decent pedals and it's got a socketed LM308 as well.
Lame to fame - I loaned Alex at Zander four of my Rat pedals for his Cranium shootout

I need a YDR to complete the collection

@ OP IMO you'll either like all the Rat pedals or none of them. I wouldn't worry about the subtle variations until you've decided you like the sound and want to go down that particular rabbit (rat?) hole

That's a good point, and I think that's true of most of the classic circuits which there are tons of clones of- unless there's like a really highly-tweaked one which is barely even a clone any more and doesn't really sound like the original any more, they all sound largely the same. Not identical, but similar. If you hate one it's not that likely you'll love another one... it's only really if you're saying, "I quite like that but wish it were slightly more like this" that you might benefit from trying several different versions.
