A short sleeved work shirt with a tie is just weird.
Acceptable for NASA engineers when worn with a pocket protector.
Also for 'no! who would have guessed?' Netflix oddballs with murder dungeons.

Thing is those guys looked badass. But that’s because they were literally badasses working for NASA in the 50s & 60s.

Most of us (I assume!) are not.
Also: depends what I've eaten. If it includes gluten, my ass can be pretty bad .

I can't believe the extent of pathetic comments in this thread on what's 'acceptable' to be seen in. FFS just wear what pleases you and feels comfortable and don't give a shit what the self-appointed fashion police think.
    U OK hun?
Yeah perfectly OK. I'm happy being an individual and not a sheep. ymmv.

Okey. You enjoy your short sleeved shirts, though they seem to make you jolly angry. :)
Never forget that you are wearing your invisible tiara.

Short sleeved shirts tend to have wide, tent-like sleeves which accentuate how thin your arms are.  And since I have skinny little arms, they are not for me.  I agree that they look ridiculous as formal shirts with a tie (apart from the NASA, pocket-protector, nerdy-cool thing, yeah OK, but it was the '60s, different kind of cool then).

I also dislike polo shirts, not because of the sleeves but because of the nasty soft collars which turn up at the ends, and because of the horrible little buttons.

I am fine with T-shirts.  And long-sleeved shirts with the sleeves rolled up.

Sandals and socks are bad, but not as bad as sliders and socks.

And just to wrap things up I never, ever wear shorts, not even when it's hot.

To be clear I wear untucked casual short sleeved shirts.

I don't own any formal shirts at all.
What do you wear at a wedding or funeral?
I was kinda hoping it was going to be a tee with a collar and tie printed on it.
Don’t even look at it! Don’t touch it! Don’t point even...ok, you’ve seen enough of that one.

I hate shopping for clothes so have a simple wardrobe, comprising:-
Short sleeve shirts, mostly check patterns
    Black chinos
    and that's it.
    I don't own any
    Long sleeve shirts
    Polo shirts
    T shirts
    Denim jeans
I'm a slim/trim 70 yr old, and until this thread, if the majority of posts are to be believed, it never occurred to me that I was a walking fashion disaster zone.

Depends on if they are tucked in to trousers or not. Short sleeved shirts (or T shirts) tucked in is a massive faux pas.
I always tuck shirts and T-shirts into my trousers, even if I'm wearing jeans - simply because I find the feel of the waist band of trousers against my skin really uncomfortable. I don't really care if it looks stupid.

Would you be on the slim side? The untucked 'tent' tends to be a feature of the 'larger' gentleman!

I saw a lad in Totnes wearing a cape once ( it’s an eccentric market town in Devon)  he looked like a wizard

I just pull my pants up to my armpits, works well.

I used to work with an American chap, first name Peach, and in bad weather he would wear a cape. Also, when walking to his local pub, in Reading, he would carry a machete under the cape.
    This was in the 1980's.

I think it's the way you wear them.

There's the teachers at my old school that wore really cheap looking SSS's, tie, visible vest underneath, and large pit stains.

On the other hand, a nice casual one, top button undone, pair of jeans, trainers, absolutely fine.
