Such a shame, he was expected to be a huge star along with Stephen Fry and the other folks he came up with but drugs and mental health issues put a stop to that.

    Was brilliant in his prime.

A great shame indeed. A multi talented, hilariously funny & hugely troubled man. RIP

I was trying to write something but that captures all of it.
    RIP Tony.

Yep, he was the one they considered to be a star. RIP Tony.

  • Can never forget when on WLIIA, He was asked to reply in the manner of Star Trek "Lieutenant Uhuru gasp at my veiney  bang stick". RIP Mr S.

Very fond memories of TS on WLIIA.  Very funny and talented but as others have said, his issues effectively stymied what would have been a very long and successful career.  Incredibly sad.

    RIP Tony.

I must admit this is another of those cases where I was sure the person concerned had died years ago...

Sad news though.  I was surprised when I saw recent pictures, he'd changed so much!  It must be a long time since he was last on TV.  There's an old episode of Celebrity Who Wants to Be a Millionaire which gets shown on Challenge occasionally, he was on with Jon Snow.  Watching it now, he seemed quite anxious even in that light entertainment environment.

  • I remember the jokes and I remember laughing at them fondly.

Well remembered @Elvis_Penberthy ; ... that was exactly my fondest and indelible memory of TS too ... strangely seems like only yesterday :anguished:

I'm not going to read about TS' mental struggles ... I prefer to cherish his memory with a smile and a laugh, as I used to do every week when watching WLIIA.

    RIP Tony.

Sad news, he was a very funny guy, all over TV back in the day and always entertaining, especially on Who’s line is it anyway.

I was a bit surprised at how old he looked at 65. I'm thinking do I look that old ???? (not far off at almost 62)

He looked terrible to be fair. I was shocked to see him in a picture with a walking stick a few years back. I had to check that it was the handsome dapper guy that used to be on on Whose Line is it Anyway, thought I was misremembering the name.

I think some of his well-documented issues contributed to his appearance in later life I'm sad to say.

Sad to hear this, WLIIA was a staple of my teens and Tony brought a very different style of comedy to the show, which I loved. Such a shame that he battled either addictions, but I read an article recently that suggested he did finally manage to regain control.

    RIP
