We lost an orginal today. He did more to polularise surrealism in film than anyone in the last 40 years. His pop moments (Dune, Twin Peaks) reached out to the mainstream and Eraserhead, Lost Hightway and Mullholland Drive were disgusting and chilling without being shlocky. In the 80s and 90s it was inspring to know that a master craftsman could still carve out a niche for himself in "the system". Musucian too, obviously. RIP
