    Air guitars.

They don't take up any space so I take a couple of electrics and an acoustic.
You laugh but practicing by visualising in your head is totally valid

I was taught this by a music teacher at a very young age and it is effective especially as reinforcement

May not be visual for everyone (eg me) but the same applies however your brain is configured
This! I do this anytime I have to wait around for some reason - driving long distance, in the doctor's waiting room, all sorts of places. Many's the time the dentist has had to quietly remind me to open my mouth a little wider because I'm off in na-na land harmonising a scale in my head or trying to work out new ways to finger an Eb diminished. Not only is is a very useful exercise,  it makes time in the dentist's chair go past much faster.
