    I'm saddened by this.

I was lucky to have seen him in the Tygers of Pan Tang and a couple of times in the post-Lynott Thin Lizzy. He was never my favourite Lizzy guitarist but I appreciated what he did for their last album and tour and the energy and excitement he injected into them and how he carried their legacy on for a bit after PL's death but boy. I loved his playing and writing on Whitesnake's '1987'!!!

    RIP JS

Oh sad news. I don’t think I ever saw him live but a proper rock God. I always remember an interview I read with him (in Guitarist probably) where he was talking about having given up and getting a day job, etc, and just went sod it and joined another band.
We have been talking on here about music of our youth and this album would have been in mine. RIP.

Incredible player - along with Adam Jones, probably the greatest Les Paul Custom player of all time.  His solo on Still of the Night is one of the best of that era. SALUTE!

Holy fuck.  That is a genuine shock, I just went sort of hot then cold for a second.  Very sad news.

He'd been out of the spotlight for so long that I thought we might never hear from him again, but I certainly wasn't expecting this.

    RIP
