Ah man, that’s sad. Absolute genius.

My profile photo is of big pink. When I finally made the trip there Levon Helm had stopped playing his midnight rambles due to cancer. Robertson not long ago, and now that’s it

Indeed - a very sad day. One on the things that struck me about Garth Hudson was he always looked 20 years older than the rest, even in their early days.

    RIP

He was the special sauce on top of it all.  Rick Danko called him "Honey Boy" because he just made everything sound sweeter.  Lots of organ highlights of course eg Chest Fever, but I especially like his piano playing on Rag Mama Rag and this lovely bit of accordion on Mr Tambourine Man live in 1974

and of course that saxophone entrance on Makes No Difference

  • Very sad. Garth Hudson was the musician who encouraged me to seek out other players with narcolepsy.

I listened to Dylan's Live 1966, The "Royal Albert Hall" Concert last night in Garth's honour - he weaves some incredible music into his short solo allotments. The whole band sound incredible on this and it's very sad that they're all gone now. What a band.

ah, that's sad. Was talking about The Band the other day at work and we couldn't quite remember who was still alive. An integral part of one of the best rock bands that no one's heard of.
