Helix LT volume knob

Yes, i said knob, get over it.

My set up at home has been Helix lt > small Behringer mixing desk > Presonus monitors. There's an headphone out on the mixer which saves me routing round the back of the Helix.

In a moment of boredem, I put my headphones direct into the Helix and it was great, much better clarity etc.  So my plan is to use the headphones into the back, and keep my monitors via the desk.

I'm using the main volume knob for the headphone volume and it's changing the volume to the desk, when I used to run it flat out into the desk. So, is it better to run the LT flat out into the desk OR is half way ok and not making any tonal changes?

Why use the Behringer at all? You have discovered how it is badly affecting your signal with your headphones. If you go straight from the Helix to the monitors you should also have a better quality signal. The Helix LT offers both XLR and jack outputs. Using tha balanced XLR outputs on the Helix to the TRS inputs on the monitors will be best.

That's a fair point. Originally, I was going for convenience,  esp when making videos as you can link a USB C cable to the phone outputs and job done. However,  you are right, I wish I had a Rack rather than a LT thou, it would make my life so much easier!
