It is good - But you hear it so much - Slow it down, make it sleazy and sing with a dusky/husky voice and you know many will buy into it - As I said, it is good but missing some magic or wow to make it better

I like her a lot more than the performance, if I can say that without being cancelled.

Sorry - each to their own.  She does nothing for me.  No emotion in her voice.

    Here's Nina Simone doing it...

There are a lot of versions of this (Wikipedia helpfully says ‘hundreds’). The one in the OP is perfectly good and she’s very attractive. It’s funny because the original is quite barking mad but they seem to invariably cover it as a smoky ballad roughly in the style of the Simone version.
I don’t mind the CCR version which turns it into a semi-psychedelic guitar wig out which, to me, is a good way of interpreting the original without copying Hawkins’ mannerisms (Screamin’ Jay, not Stephen).

Does she know that she doesn't need to put all the notes into every line she sings?

I said to somebody the other day about a perfectly nice performance of something being really dull because there wasn't the emotion in it that I enjoy, and they answered "Well maybe that's all the emotion they have?" and I thought that was quite a good point, maybe it was just an honest performance rather than the singer acting out some fake emotion like it usually/often is. A lot of people don't really always have the depth of emotion to share I guess

I really like Nina Simone but I'm not that keen on her version of this song, and unfortunately that's the one that usually gets used as the inspiration when people do a version of it. I feel like they kind of came up with an arrangement and used the exact same one for several songs - this one, Feeling Good, for example. I prefer her more varied stuff as I feel like the whole point of the original vibe of the song which seems more like a manic and terrifying persona
