It's really hit and miss regarding hiss. I have one that hasn't had the "stealth" Fender update and it is really not very noticeable and I'm VERY picky when it comes to noise.

If you want to guarantee absolute silence, get an Archangel V3 plug in replacement preamp ( check the Hissterectomy thread on the Fractal forum for details).
It is spectacular and gives the FR series even greater headroom.
