RIP I’m Immensely sad. And shocked. He was an essential part of my early teens. Thanks for the great times and tunes Rick.

Its a shame that the Jam never reformed for one last Concert.

Just read that, far too young and a huge part of one of the greatest British bands. RIP

A friend of mine worked as a sound engineer on TOGWT.  His memories were less than fond but hey.  RIP.

  • Bit of a shocker, this one.

Was a huge fan of The Jam as a kid, and the songs - and Buckler’s drumming - stood the test of time.

    RIP

  • Such sad news. Like others here, The Jam were a very big part of my early life.

I remember the day I introduced my son to their music for the first time and watched his face light up when he heard the opening bars of Going Underground.

    RIP Rick

Too young. In the City was the second album I ever bought.

I am shocked and saddened to learn this news. As with many others, The Jam were a huge part of my musical life from age 14 to now, Rick was a superb and inventive drummer and was an integral part of the sound of The Jam.  I still play pretty much all of their music now. Just the other day I was revisiting Bricks and Mortar, still trying to get the guitar lines right after 50+ years.

As those pillars that underpinned your formative years start to pass it makes you feel a bit more fragile and older yourself.

When I was 11 (1981) my best mate’s brother gave me a Japanese import Eton Rifles. He was a big collector and a massive Jam fan. However, I preferred Going underground and swapped it in the playground for a non picture cover example. Probably worth a quarter of the value, which obviously meant little to me at the time,

That single got played more than any other record I ever owned and even though I realised my stupid mistake later on, that thing gave me so much. I’m talking in the days when I literally had this, a push bike and a couple of conkers.

Just thought I’d share. RIP once again Rick. Always a big part of my life.

    ...and a record player.

It was the family one. I didn’t get one till I bought my own in around 1986.
