Sold Black Waterloo WL-14XTR
Lovely Waterloo WL-14XTR for sale.
This has what Collings describe as the lower profile neck option as opposed to the huge prominent v neck. It's still a decent size, I'd describe it as a full C shape.
There a few tiny marks on the back of the neck that you can't feel whilst playing.
It had a chip on the front that's been repaired (drop filled) and then buffed, so the whole top is a bit shinier compared to how they come in a pure satin finish from the factory. Not glossy per se but a bit shinier than the Satin finish. It looks ace.
When I got it from Bruce a former owner had added a pickup at some point and drilled under the strap button.
The hole bugged me enough to get a mahogany plug inserted by my trusted luthier Stuart Palmer (see pics). He also gave it a good set up.
Current action is approximately 2mm low E and 1.8mm high E at the 12th fret.
I also bought another set of black Golden Age vintage tuners, the original ivoroid one's are included. The G tuner is a bit tight on the new one's but it's rock solid. One of those guitars you can leave for a few days and it's still in tune when you pick it up again.
I've had 3 of these and this is the best I've had. Played it alongside a friend's sunburst version and this feels more woody and open. At the time I was contemplating buying a vintage L-00 but didn't want to pay those prices and inherit any potential problems that can
come with going all vintage. This got me 99% there.
It's a fantastic guitar, I'm selling because I have an Iris that is similar enough to not justify keeping both. Plus something else has come up that I fancy.
Comes with COA and OHC in great condition.
Price is £1950 which I what I paid plus the bit of work I had done.
Now £1900.
Based in South Yorkshire, I have a box so postage is an option at cost.
No trades thanks, straight sale.
