Replacement cable for iRig HD?

I've started dabbling after a hiatus and picked up an iRig HD to start messing about on Garageband. 

Trouble is, it came with a micro to usb c cable. My iPad is a lightning version. No problem, I thought- bought an adaptor for a couple of quid. Alas, it doesn't work. Will charge the iPad but apparently it doesn't work when attached to the irig. 

So, square one. There are actual replacement cables for £30 online but that seems mad and is more than what I paid for the irig in the first place. 

Anyone know of a working alternative?
