This is absolutely mental, to me anyway.

Found this on Coffee House Guitars website.

You put in the name of a top artist and a song and it tells you the guitar, amp and effects they used. Even tells you about pickups and the room.

Just to update if you put in your own name or make something up it confuses the AI and brings back random stuff.

Very cool.

Mm seems to be a mix of info gleaned from a quick search and some AI guesswork. I put one in and it named one correct amp but one similar amp that the player explicitly doesn’t use
Seems to be what some AI excels in - appearing to work

    Unimpressive. Yet another GPT regurgitator.
My opinions in context: I rarely gig and don't play guitar for a living. I record my own music for a non-profit org's research and education videos. I have modified or built most of my equipment and I owe a big debt of gratitude to many people on this forum (you know who you are!).

Well, apparently I used an ESP, a 6505+, and a Maxon 808 tuned to drop C for our last single.

I've never owned or played any of these, or tuned to drop C, so that was a pleasant surprise to learn. Amazing what you miss in the studio isn't it?

On the song I searched for apparently I used a Gretsch (it was a Tele) into a Marshall Super Bass (never used one).

Lol I just tried this with myself, apparently I used a Fender Jazzmaster with single coils through a Vox AC30 on a clean edge of breakup sound with delay and light overdrive.

(none of these are correct by the way).

Im sure its meant to pick up famous people's guitars and gear, like dare I say Hendrix.

I was going to put my name in and see if it knew what amp I had in my study.

Ok, just for the LOLs, I’ve tried myself too. It thought my cheapo AC15 was a Matchless but somehow it got the guitar stuff right (stratocaster, fingerpicked). Then in the general part it wrote a load of porkies “XXX’s signature tone is characterized by articulate, melodic phrasing with a clear, dynamic response. His sound typically balances warmth and clarity, favoring expressive lead lines with moderate sustain and a touch of natural amp breakup”.

    I DON’T PLAY THAT GOOD.

It seems reasonably accurate to me, but it's picking up the equipment people were best known for at a given time in their career.  I've no idea what they actually used in the studio for any given track.

Apparently I don't use a PRS Tremonti SE into a Victory Kraken or Friedman IR-J. I have no idea where the Stratocaster and AC30 I don't own are and I don't ever remember using them. I also don't use a 1mm pick or 9-42 strings. Absolutely nothing was correct

And it claims David Gilmour used his black strat for Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2). FFS it would have got the guitar right if it had checked Wikipedia

So I put "Harvey Hinsley" and "You Sexy Thing", I did it twice because I accidentally closed the first page.  The first time it said Harvey Hinsley played an ES-335, the second time it said he played a Strat into a Twin Reverb.  What did he really use?  I've no idea.

Man, if only we had a program where you could ask it "what gear did Hendrix play?" and it would provide you with sources to answer your question. Like some kind of engine for searching information.

I like the ambition. Just a bit worrying that someone with enough knowledge to implement that server didn't realise that the limitations would make it useless at worst, and at best just repeating easily googled information.

I put in Heaven or Las Vegas because Robin Guthrie describes what he used in some detail on his website. AI completely missed that and made up some nonsense.

I just asked it about "Are you going with me" by Pate Metheny
    It got that

I tried with my mate's name, he does covers and originals on acoustic lap steel.
It did pretty well, but was sure he plays on a guitar brand that I've never seen him play or mention, through an AER. I've only seen him mic'd or going straight into the desk.
