What’s better, peavey minimax or Markbass nano?

Asking on behalf of my bass player who is upgrading his to a markbass MB58R (4 ohm) cabinet and is thing of either a peavey minimax 600 or a markbass nano mark ii. Anyone have experience of either of these?

He currently gigs with a tc electronic classic 450 and and Eden 2x12 ( I think it’s a 2 x 12). He’s getting rid of the big Eden cabinet as it’s getting too heavy to lug around. The current sound is LOUD and mostly clean. He gigs with me (indie rock covers) a reggae band and an REM tribute act to pubs.

Thanks

Can't help there (only played the nano in a shop) but the 280w version of the Warwick Gnome is worth trying if he's keen on mini heads.   Smooth, clean sound, no discernible fan noise, loads of headroom,  light and cheap.  And loud.  For grit, add pedal.

I'd suggest an eq pedal with it anyway, because it only has 3 bands of eq.

All Markbass heads have a distinct Markbass sound.  If he likes it,  nothing else will scratch the itch.

I've got a Mini Mark, which sounds great. I'm assuming the nano mark will sound very similar.

I'd have the Mark Bass but then again I'm a total Mark Bass fanboi. I love their amps.

  • Markbass it is! Just hoping it’s loud enough.
