Subscribing seems a very good way, especially if you enjoy using the forum for the classifieds.
It's a small price for the facility and gives a little back to a forum we all value so much

Many guitars have a re-sale value. Some you'll never want to sell.

If only there was an option that pretty much guaranteed your pics posted here would remain visible as long as the forum ran, and made uploading them really simple.

OK, it might cost a little bit, but if that all helped keep the forum lights on too, and saved the hassle of migrating from "free" host to "free" host as each one closed or solve the challenges of embedding to another site that those free sites impose ... maybe that'd be a useful option?

I'm going to subscribe I think, but if you really need a free alternative, I've seen https://imgbox.com/ mentioned in a few places. I tested it out and it seems to work just fine.

I use Postimg, but it randomly bans my account, the un-bans it. I’ve only ever used it to post photos of guitars I own, so why it does that mystifies me.

    Very unreliable.

I’ve signed up for S3ND, but it’s in beta phase, so might take weeks for account to become active.

I’ve subscribed to the forum, but the size of photos can be a problem, so it’s not a perfect solution

[EDIT: I went to answer the door half way through typing when only two comments had been made, so I wasn't aware my comment would be duplicating comments posted in the interim]

There are various other image storage places that still work but, as has been mentioned in the other threads about imgur, any one of them could then place restrictions on allowing the images to be viewed in the UK and fetched and embedded, or may start charging for hosting, or even fold  - Photobucket as an example.  To guarantee against this for the purposes of including embedded images in this particular forum, and for ease of use, the most logical suggestion is as above suggestion of subscribing, however you can still use something like a folder on Google Drive or Google Images to store the images for sharing as long as you relax the permissions for that folder or specific images so that anybody (i.e. this forum) with the link can view them it will work and as long as you don't exceed your total storage allowance.  DropBox apparently still works for this purpose (free 2 Gigabyte limit), and it seems that PostImage still does too, albeit slowly.  Somebody else mentioned signing up to s3nd.pic that is seemingly similar to imgur but no "private" feature.  I see some people using imgbb.com for photos here.

The issue with DropBox / Google options @BillDL is that - whilst you can link to a folder of images - you can't (easily) embed those images into a post here.  Not because the forum blocks it, but because the hosts obstruct it.

I often cba to click on links, partly because you're never quite 100% sure where that link is going take you, partly because of the "we value your privacy" pop-ups that generally appear and have to be clicked through, and partly because I'm often too lazy to take the time to do it.

Particularly with sales - as a seller you need to remove *every* possible obstruction to a sale, make it as easy as possible for a buyer to see, want, and buy.  And clicking embedded links is just another step that a buyer has to take, instead of the "wow that looks great, just what I want" impulse prompted by an embedded image or 10.

Thanks for all the feedback folks ...... @Alun mentioned imgbox which looks promising but I'll also look into Subscribing, I wasn't aware of it but if it supports the site :-)

I have all my photos on Google and so would be interested to know if it's a waste of time trying to embed them into a post or whether it can actually be done but is a bit hit and miss or challenging in the extreme?  By the sound of it Google is blocking the process.  Thanks......

I subscribe, but also use Flickr for those times when reducing the image size is an unwanted chore, and also for posting on other forums. Flickr is good on a PC but not so good for mobile and pad.

I ignore all links to Dropbox and Google when members post them here.
