Spam from my Fretboard registered email address

I've got a single email address that I only use for the Fretboard.

I've started getting spam to it in the past few days. The most recent is an email stating  that my DPD parcel hasn't been delivered etc

Just wondering how this could have happened? Has the site had any breaches?

A lot of spammers will generate random addresses and hope that something sticks. So jasonw@hotmail.com, jastonw2@hotmail.com etc.. so I suspect it’s as a result of a brute force attack rather than a breach.
A guitar doesn't care how good you are, all it asks for is it's played.

  • @JasonW - there aren't any breaches that I'm aware of, and I tend to keep a close eye on the logs. I've also got a bunch of honeypot accounts spread throughout the database that would've been triggered if somebody had got in and was spamming members.

All in all, I'm pretty confident that we're clear of hackery. As to where it came from...brute-force attacks, dodgy browser extensions, JS leaks etc...there could be any number of explanations.
