STRICH Stereo Looper pedal review

I've placed this in the effects review section, as it is a pedal.

I asked Digitalscream before uploading this.

STRICH sent me one of these to review, and I thought our review may be helpful for anyone looking for a budget stereo looper.

They sell through Amazon, and I've seen some YouTube video demos online, but these all glossed over any potential issues and weren't very helpful as far as I could see.

It's a bit lengthy for a post on here, so you can follow the link below if you'd like to read more about its pros and cons.

Key Specifications

A stereo looper capable of storing 40 presets, with each offering a maximum recording time of 4 minutes, culminating in an impressive total recording capacity of 160 minutes.

It utilizes a 24-bit/44.1kHz DSP chip, which ensures accurate reproduction of the recorded sound from both instruments and microphones.

A bright display keeps the user informed of the current loop mode, time progress, and precise timing.

Two footswitches and two rotary encoders to navigate the easy-to-use menu system.

Two mono 1/4″ inputs allow for the simultaneous connection of an instrument and a microphone, enabling the recording of multiple sources.

Additionally, it includes two mono 1/4″ outputs that support stereo output.

A brief summary of key points in the review

  • It offers good value for money ($88.99/£79.99).
  • The built-in drum machine is suitable for practice, but it's not ideal for performance due to its fundamental limitations.
  • The switches are likely micro-switches, which trigger on release (I haven't opened the unit to confirm this). To get the timing right, you must take this into account, or you'll become frustrated quickly.

  • They have a basic audio loader software for use with the pedal (which features a USB-C port), but their website is very minimal, and it isn't easy to navigate to the download section. I have spoken to them and they have assured me they are currently working on launching a new site.
I'd recommend it for anyone who needs a practice tool or perhaps a backing track loader/playback setup. It does a lot more than many of the basic branded looper pedals. It is much easier to navigate and use than my Boss RC-1, for example, and is available at a similar price point.

It would be a great piece of gear for anyone starting with looping.

I hope this is useful for some of you. They have sent me some additional pedals (a Germanium fuzz and a Riot-style distortion) and a mini-pedalboard/power supply to review. I'll be giving those a thorough test over the next week or so.

Additionally, they will send me more gear to test for them over the coming weeks.

These budget pieces of guitar gear can sometimes be worth checking out, and since I review gear frequently, I can often compare these more affordable products to mainstream, branded gear I've tested before, or
