UA Connect Install error

What's Hot
I saw that UA are offering a free amp plugin so thought I'd download it. All fine, but when I tried to install UA Connect, it brought up another install window for Pace Licence something or other. When that was downloading it comes up with a 1603 MSI Fatal error message and so I can't complete the install. It seems this was a common issue with UA Connect but I can't seem to find a solution. I'm running Windows 10. Anyone got any idea how I can get round this?

I have no idea what UA Connect is or what Pace Licensing is, but the most common cause for a 1603 MSI error is where there are unsufficient permissions to run that installer package or the folder where it is trying to install the required folders and files is not accessible by the profile you are logged in under.  You can often get around this by logging in as Administrator or as a user with administrative permissions.

Are you able to do this?

Pace is the software that developed iLok ...basically a hardware or software licensing checker .

Do what Bill said but if that fails then open a CMD window and type sfc /scannow.  ... this will check and repair any system files that Pace needs which are corrupted  .. then reboot and try again

Thanks for your advice. I have had a look at settings and my account on my laptop is listed as Administrator. I tried the cmd scan and it didn't find any errors. I then tried installing UA Connect (I think this is a UA installer for plugins from what I can see) and it got further but now a different 1603 error. "1603 Fatal error during installation. Consult Windows Installer Help (msi.chm) or MDSN for more information".
So I have no idea unfortunately. It could be UA Connect won't work on my pc.

  • So it's finally sorted. I had another random error message on my pc yesterday so googled it and it suggested installing a newer Microsoft Visual Basic something or other. I did that, not thinking anything of the UA Connect program. Anyway, I clicked on it by mistake and it opened and worked! I've not used the plugin yet but it's now downloaded and installed!!
