New Synth Day - Behringer JT Mini

Nothing too exciting, but got one of these for my birthday:-

Behringer JT Mini Analogue Polyphonic Synthesizer - Andertons Music Co.

Sounds pretty good, got it hooked up to my MPC for some out-of-the-box analog tones.

Claims to be polyphonic, but it's really paraphonic.  To be fair it sounds best in unison mode with a slight detune.
Paraphonic has some wierd triggering things going on.  That said I didn't expect a full polyphonic analog synth.

There's not much sound scuplting but with the MPC effects you can get some interesting tones.  You don't have to spend much more, to get something much more capable, but for £80 it does provide a usable analog voice, filter and ADSR.

Tempted to get the JT-Micro as partner for an extra £37, which should keep be occupied until I get a decent 'proper' synth or 2 in the future.

    I think it's quite exciting!
Stuff like this, with the simple interface and reduced options for faffing about, often make you just "get on with it" and concentrate on the music.

Retro synth tones aplenty for bargain prices. What's not to like? Enjoy.

HNSD! Enjoy, use up every last bit of the features,  and move it on when you're done. I wish my process worked like that.
Ten years too late and still getting it wrong

The sound of all those Reactivated and 1990's trance! I've been looking at that and the Pro VS Mini. Some of the music that's been put out on those mini synths is amazing.

Probably, multiple notes trying to cram themselves through a single filter envelope. In the Seventies, where paraphonic synthesizers tended give of their best was on chordal washes. If all the notes change together, the filter copes.

I recently treated myself to a Behringer Grind semi-modular synthesizer. Its control array is not as straightforward and complete as, say, the MS-1 but it manages to produce some interesting bleeps and bloops regardless. Ideally, one should twiddle until a cool sound emerges then sample the bejeezus out of it. Create your own electro percussion sounds à la Vince Clarke or mad drumkits à la Stephen Morris and Martin Hannett.
Loneliness is a cloak you wear.
A deep shade of blue is always there.
