    Also - last time I got the Mantra vocal suite and it's ace.

    And, I discovered that it can be used to sort out dodgy vocals for Zoom meetings too. Makes it sound far better than the stock Zoom options for sound.
    Can you use plugins for Teams? I'd love to attend a work meeting with a T-Pain style autotuned microphone

    I have no idea - not used Teams for ages.

    Next time!

    I got the Rabea last time round and I love it.

    The best plugin fuzz I've ever heard - to the point that I don't use a real fuzz pedal when recording now. Before I always felt I needed a real fuzz.

    On the next sale I might get the Mesa Mk2C one. I did like that and it's a bit different to the others I have.

    Yes the Rabea is superb.

    I'm tilting more towards Gojira at the moment just because it sounds so huge, but I would miss the fuzz.

    Gojira does have whammy and a RAT though.

    Interestingly the Fortin NTS is now €54 and Morello is €64 ahead of the sale. I'm wondering if they are dropping the price in reflection that they were considered to be a very bad deal compared to other bundles.

    I also have a suspicion they don't sell well enough to justify updating to an "X" version so they will be stuck on permanent discount and left to rot.

    Similar to the Darkglass plugin (as Darkglass now have digital Anagram hardware), I believe neither will ever be Quad Cortex compatible. Not sure why Morello even cares! Apparently the sale in 2 days will apply to those prices too, so best hold out.

    Parallax is already Quad Cortex compatible.

    Darkglass Ultimate & Full Disclosure on PCOM/X Updates - Quad Cortex Development Update #58

    Key quotes:

    • While we’re sad to not bring [Darkglass] to Quad Cortex ... Quad Cortex compatibility is a requirement for the X-update designation, the update will be released under the Darkglass Ultimate name rather than as an X-update.
    • CorOS 4.1.0 will be the largest PCOM (Plugin Compatibility) update we have released. It will bring compatibility for Archetype: Petrucci X, Archetype: Tim Henson X, Archetype: Rabea X, Archetype: Misha Mansoor X, and Archetype: John Mayer X, as well as additional free virtual devices and quality of life improvements.
    • The next plugins in line to receive X-updates are the Tone King Imperial MKII and the Morgan Amps Suite
    • Mantra is a vocal processing plugin [...] and we do not intend to port it to Quad Cortex. It will not receive an X-update.
    • The Fortin NTS Suite and Archetype: Tom Morello will also not be receiving X-updates.
    • X-updating has not begun for the following plugins: Fortin Cali Suite, Archetype: Abasi, Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ Suite, Archetype: Mateus Asato, and Omega Ampworks Granophyre.

    Much respect that they are being so transparent about how they plan to go forward. It makes me respect them a lot as a company.

    If Tom Morello goes down to £30 in the sale it's worth a punt.

    I'm wondering if Tosin Abasi is holding off renewing as it seems odd they haven't updated his plugin to X.

    Is the Synth in the Rabea plugin different to the Monosynth that was included in the last update? I got the impression they were the same from the video Rabea himself made following the update.

    A bit more playing today deciding what I want to get in the sale.

    The Darkglass Ultimate is a great upgrade and be getting it. It's a shame it can't to some of the mutliband features in Parallax, but it's a lot of plugin for the money and will cover pretty much all I could want for bass.

    Tried Tom Morello. I was certain I was going to get it as I love RATM and it's now €30 but as others have said it's just a one trick pony. The Nolly and Rabea plugins have JCM800s  which are less authentic, but way more flexible and I know Tom doesn't use it, but an 800 without an SD-1 is just crazy as it's way too flubby and lacking in gain for metal and it's locked out a whole bunch of thrash lovers who would have been all over it. So even at the price and as a fanboy it's a no from me.

    Gave the Nolly another look. I can see why people say "If you are going to get one then make it this" as it has a brilliant JCM800 and 5150 and I actually take it back about the Victory Duchess as will a bit more playing it's actually a great smooth lead amp.
    The FXs are quite generic and limited compared to what you get with something like Misha, but it is brilliant.

    Gojira confirmed as the most epic heavy tone I've ever heard so that was a very easy decision.

    Fortin Nameless is seems like poor value given the one amp and limited FX, but it's the best sounding Plexi I've ever heard and can go into insane metal territory so it was an easy buy.

    I had intended to get the Morello so I had a think if I wanted to get something else.

    I really love the clean sound of the Misha and the FX, but I just wouldn't use the heavy amps as they are very one trick hyped Djent amps.
    Nearly went with Mateus Asato as the FX are superb and the Matchless is killer, but in the end the Morgan Amp suite was just better with a fantastic AC30, lovely Princeton and a Dumble. It's also promised to get an X update which hopefully will add mix and match cabs. That will be very cool.

    So that's

    * Darkglass
    * Gojira
    * Nameless
    * Morgan

    Given I already had Tone King I think I can basically cover any sound you could imagine with those.

    If the X versions of the Morgan and Tone King were out now I would have bought the QC Mini instead of the AM4.
    I have the plugin versions along with the Soldano and they are all epic.

    I know. I’m still keeping the AM4 though despite G66’s 30 day returns policy. And I still have the plugins I can sample into the Nano Cortex.
    Hey Ho. It’s all fun.

    I will only use the plugins in the quad cortex and looking for more rock tones,  I'm very torn between the slo and the gojira packs.     Am I right in thinking the gojira has a good 5150 sound?

    I did play about with Tonex capturing the John Mayer one through Reaper when I had the trial, which was fun but needed a bit of tweaking to get it right.

    But I guess it would work with the normal small Cortex model in the same way if you're willing to do the messing about with routing

    The gojira is considered the absolute gold standard 5150 plugin. It's superb. It's an EVH III and you get the green and red channels plus a clean amp.

    The Nolly, Rabea and Misha also have 5150ish but the Gojira is the king.

    The Misha is a super cool plugin though. You get a superb clean amp a Friedman and a Peavey invective which is the Misha version of the 6505.
