Soundtoys stuff is absolutely world class.

I have the whole set and they are some of the most commonly used effects by professional producers.

Thanks for posting this, just downloaded the second one as unfortunately I saw the thread too late and missed the first. What was it, out of curiosity?

Incidentally owning and registering these free versions drop the price if you want to upgrade. After two free downloads it brings the price of upgrading to the full suite to $269 from $299 (currently on sale).
Hoping it goes down further after the remaining 4!

  • Downloaded today's but realised it needed an iLok account, so that's me out, don't really need any more plug ins anyway!

I think ilok has a terrible reputation from history, but I've never had a problem with it over what is used by Arturia or Roland etc.

I don't want to curse it but it's been invisibly flawless for me.

I have had a problem with Soundtoys though...got the full suite...everything as up to date as it can be on MacOS Ventura. Occasionally, I'll drop a plugin on a track in Studio One and it'll kill the DAW. Doesn't happen every time...usually only if I've forgotten to save the project first ;)

+1. No problems with ilok at all. Much better than having hardware dongles IME.

Interesting... I loaded up Little Primal Tap to test it... and Reaper has crashed a couple of times since then. Hmmmm.

This is why I use Bitwig. Plugins are sandboxed so they can't crash the DAW.

I've never had a problem with anything sound toys though

  • @MrTee didn't get that option, just create an iLok account or lose the activation (not great experience to be honest).

I have seen a friend's iLok account go odd and so I've sworn to never use them, plus I think they're anti consumer as a business model.

I have a personal problem with having to have two accounts to operate something, it's another failure point, and a burden on the user to understand and operate.

To be fair I'm a user experience designer in my regular job so I have no patience for this sort of thing.

I've downloaded and installed EchoBoy Jr and Little Radiator to use within Reaper. I'm new to Reaper and plugins. What I did was insert a blank track in Reaper and click FX then find EchoBoy in the list, it opened and I had a tinker with adjusting parameters etc (turning knobs...) to make sure I could operate it.

If I try to do that now I get an error message saying validation not authorised or similar and EchBoy won't open. Little Radiator doesn't even appear in the list or its subsections. If I log in to Soundtoys both show as active.

I just downloaded a fairly random free vst, IVG12 saturation and followed the same procedure and it opens and appears to operate with no problems. Estoy confuso!

I'd appreciate some advice at some point about my issue above. Thanks to anyone that's read it and has some idea how to help. After xmas is fine.
