Behringer LM experience/opinions

What's Hot
Fancy getting myself a shiny new box to play with. Will I get that much more out of this than an in-the-box software alternative (I use Logic Pro so drum designer and sequencer I assume)?

Does anyone have one, or have any feedback on what it’s like to use? I’ve never used a hardware drum machine before and it would likely only be for home/amateur use.

YouTube’s been great but feedback from home recordists, guitarists and bassists would be welcome
cheers

I don’t have this but have a Dsi Tempest which is an analogue drum machine / sequencer / synth.   It’s great but when I don’t use it for a while the hurdle of knowledge needed puts me off just using it quickly.   I find the same is true for all other bits of kit I have.  In truth I have a lifetime of learning ahead on guitar and so I’ll always find I don’t make great use of these others ‘instruments’ even tho I like the idea and the sounds they make.

@joeW thanks for the reality check. You’re absolute right, this will probably sit alongside my keyboard, mixer and other toys so I can neglect my guitars until the next shiny thing comes along.

I have found a decent LinDrum in Logic Pro within the last 24hrs too which tickles the itch

  • How do you plan to use it? I got a hardware groove box because I wanted to make beats to play over on the guitar. I didn't want to use a computer because I wanted to avoid more time staring at the screen. The advantage a hardware box can have is that if the work flow is well designed you can make beat with some real immediacy. You also don't have the distractions of other things you could be doing on it. I think if you're going to be getting it off of a shelf, plugging it in before you use it each time, you probably remove a lot of the advantages. Mine lives ready to go.

These days I might be more tempted by the Audio.Computer Beat Friend, though maybe I might find that too limiting, but it does put out some great beats

Don't have an LM but I do have a couple of other Behringer retro recreations. IMO, build quality is firmly in the home studio realm. I would not gig either of mine. (Wall wart PSUs put paid to that!

Of course, all is forgiven when one hears the sounds.
I've travelled the land, made mistakes out of hand,
Seen the faces in the places misunderstand.
