Budget friendly studio chair recommendations

What's Hot
Im looking for a studio chair ideally with a low back and something compact that I can use to everything from playing keys, playing acoustic guitar and production work, mixing that sort of thing.

I really like the ergolab stealth chair, it seems to tick all the boxes, the only thing is the armrest which do drop down and someone on YT has shown that playing acoustic is possible if sitting forward on the chair. The other thing is the price! £900 new which is a lot of money!

Im wondering if there is anything else that is a more budget friendly option that still offers the lumbar support and functionality?

    Three things come to mind:

1 - for a studio chair, make sure (as you mentioned) that it does not have a headrest as this will impair a clear signal path for studio listening and monitoring.

2 - £900 new can be bettered by searching for used or refurbished office products. Bankrupt companies' furniture is sold off with reasonable discounts.

3 - Arm rests. Take your acoustic guitar to a chair shop and try playing the guitar sitting in a number of chairs, especially the one(s) you are interested in. I think you will find it is harder than you imagine. I personally would get a chair without armrests, it will help with guitar, keyboard and mixing.

Thanks for the advice. Didnt think of the headrest getting in the way of the signal path. Good shout about looking for reduced clearence office supplies. There seems to be a fair amount of refurbished options for segnificantly less money. Cheers

the 'bicycle' style seat is the one to go for. The backrest is a low mounted lumbar support designed to support drummers' spines. You can get a gas lift version, mine is normal screw in, just as good. It's not an office / gaming chair though, so maybe if you want to just sit at a desk go for a cheap gaming seat. For playing guitar though, you can't beat them.

I bought my Herman Miller Aeron used for £150 but in pretty much immaculate condition.

I think it might tick all your boxes. If so, it'd be worth looking for one.

Kinda want something that does it all, I think Im leaning more towards a proper chair than a stool. So yeah a desk/gaming chair is more appropriate for my needs.

I did see these come up after doing more research as a decent budget chair with good lumbar support. Good to hear it does the job. I have seen some used ones for around £250 or so. I'll keep looking and wait for a good deal to turn up. It look like the arms can drop down. Would you say they drop down low enough to be out of the way for playing guitar?

Some models have removable arms, like mine. I just removed them completely.

I don't think the drop is enough for me, personally.
