Get a policy at insurance4carhire.com. No affiliation, but I never take out add on insurance. I use all sorts of companies and had loads of issues in the past with spurious complaints of scratches. Take a picture under the bumpers.

I usually opt for a company that does a key & go or similar - paying the full everything included insurance with them and when you arrive at the airport walk up to a machine scan a QR code and the machine vends the keys. Quite often i get a choice of cars too. 

Well i get a choice of white fiat 500's........

This is usually more expensive than getting separate insurance beforehand however not that much more and when I'm on holiday I don't want to be stood in a queue at a hire car kiosk in an airport for 2 hours before being given the hard sell for extra insurance.
