    Andrew Gold - Lonely Boy
Andrew Gold was a bit of a songwriting Genius wasn’t he
There's a clip on YouTube of Linda Rhonstadt doing 'You're No Good", and he's on guitar. He lets rip with a fantastic solo.

Thanks , that project he did with the 10cc guys was good too I think it yielded the single
building a bridge to your heart .  I was just singing never let her slip away to myself the other day

Luther Vandross - Stop To Love.
The solo starts at 3:05 mins.

This came on the radio while I was driving & I really liked the guitar solo.

I believe that the guitar solo is by Paul Jackson Jr. with Cissy Houston (Whitney's Mum) on backing vocals.

As the title is 'great solos' and guitar not defined (although implied), just gonna mention that Don;t Dream It's Over has possibly got the most exquisitely beautiful and greatest Hammond solo ever recorded (Mitchell Froome).

*An Official Foo-Approved guitarist since Sept 2023.

Another antipodean pop song with a classic solo not played on guitar

You're The Voice by John Farnham

Probably the most famous bagpipe solo in a pop song. As it's the bagpipes I'll do you all a favour and not link the video
