Is running in parallel the same as using blend control?

For instance, I have a patch in my HX Stomp which has an octaver running in a parallel path set to split 50/50 - 50% dry signal and 50% octave but the octaver itself is set to 100% wet

Is this the same as having the octaver in the same, singular path with the octaver blend set to 50%?

I think it sounds different, although I’m not sure if my mind I playing tricks when I know it’s in parallel or not?

It should only be different if there is a phase swap on the split.

Is it just the octave in the parallel path, and straight through on the other side?

If so it should sound the same, but a small shift in level can make a big audible difference.

Easty way to check is to play blindfold (or eyes shut) with someone else switching or not switching between goes of the same riff. Not true double blind, but hood enough for what you're trying the discover.
