Octave pedals

What's Hot

Hey.

I’m after a small, reliable business octave pedal that tracks well. I used to have the Pitchfork which was fine but had too many options. I don’t like the Pog or Sub n Up - can’t explain why but they didn’t seem to blend so well. I’ve not tried the Boss OC series.

Any other options? Tips? I don’t want a whammy - too big.

Cheers.

I’ve just sold a Boss OC-5. In the end, it wasn’t for me, but it was very good at doing what it does. I’d recommend it.

By law the Line 6 HX One has to get a mention in every recommend a pedal thread but it does do pitch shifting well, and is worth considering along with the Boss units

Just down. I don’t need to squeal, thanks!

Seems to do quite a lot. I just want the one thing, really. I like to keep it simple wherever I can.

    I love my OC5 too.

The “only octave the bottom note in a chord” thing is witchcraft!

Then I'd echo the Boss recommendations.

Can I suggest a Plethora X1, you can program in the octave, then when you get bored with it and want to try say a tremolo or something you just load in a different the tone print. Currently £30 cheaper than an OC5 £99 at Anderson’s

Boss OC-3 or OC-5 definitely. Some people prefer the former. Also echo the HX One recommendation though sounds like more than you need

Any love for the Sub n Up? I’m after an octave too and I’d thought about the Sub as Ive had POGs in the past and fancied something else.

I have an aversion to Boss pedals based purely on how they look. I know it’s a stupid stance to take but they look so dull. Who wants to spend money on a boring brown pedal?

Does the HX One do the poly mode the OC3 does though, where you can adjust where it starts the octave down? I had an OC3 and loved it. Regret selling it really - was great when playing acoustic for adding in bass tones

The OC-5 is a nice metallic brown  ;)

I’ll take one. But put it in a new box and paint it pretty

I don't know if you can do this with the HX One. I did this (and gigged quite a bit) with a HX FX with a Low Pass filter path splitter feeding a poly octave block and then a Bass preamp block. Not sure what the One can do beyond the single block

That's a great idea! I'll be able to do it in my Helix, but if the HX One can do it then I might need one for my small board.

Hopefully an HX One owner will pop in to tell us.

Is this for bass or guitar?

I had the OC5 and it was great.  I only sold it to explore other options and I knew I would be able to get one quickly if needed again.  I gigged it for a year I think and it was solid.
