Anyone Had a Piddle?

What's Hot

http://www.piddlebrewery.co.uk/

I tried some of this Ale in Dorset recently. Twas rather nice, the regular and the Slasher.

A good one for real ale fans if you've not tried it.

Any other Piddlers?

Yes Bertie, but you have to drink a minimum of twenty pints, every Friday night.

  • It's a local beer for me - the slasher is really nice but I prefer the badger beers

  • Quite trendy is proper beer these days.

Indeed I noticed there's a (bloody awful) viral advert for JW Lees Pale Ale going around at the moment.

Sent me down memory lane: I got arrested for robbing pale ale from there when I was 12 (deary me!)..

My excuse, when asked what I was doing hanging around there at night, was 'I'm looking for my knife, officer'.

Yep, I had a bottle of Fursty Ferret the other night and also tried a pint of another one of theirs in Dorset, can't recall the other ones name but very nice indeed.

Tried a pint of this in at a pub in Swanage on my family hols this year, got to say I wasn't greatly impressed, but it was the best choice amongst the Carlings and Fosters there IIRC.

Driving around Cornwall/Dorset I got to sample a few local varieties and absolutely loved St Austall's  'Proper Job' pale ale, one of the nicest pints that i've tasted in my ale-drinking life, even found it for sale in bottles at the local Tesco when I got home :-)

With so many comparison web sites out there, how do I choose the best one?

the Dartmoor brewery make some good stuff, our local often gets something from them in as a guest ale.

I'm not locked in here with you, you are locked in here with me.

All those are great ales, MIke. I've not done Helston yet, I think that place(Blue Anchor) will be worthy of a visit next year.

  • If your in Dorset - ringwood best is as good a pint as you'll find

  • I rather like Dorset Brewing Company's Chesil. It's a light ale/bitter made with lager malt. Lovely creamy combination of a bitter and a proper (none fizzy drink) lager.
