    thats what I still call the ones we have,  they want to call them restaurants, but they're nothing more than canteens really

    Beans are classed as 1 item, heres how it breaks down

    4 bacon

    4 sausage

    3 eggs

    2 hashbrowns

    1 beans

    1 tomatos

    1 black pudding

    1 mushrooms

    2 toast


    Ditch the beans for another hash brown.

    Then you have my Sunday morning special.

    Never sir. Quality beans are the making of a fry-up. The black pudding can do one though.

    my personal  'no-no'  fried egg and beans on the same plate, one or the other.

    and NEVER tomato  (unless its berts, special tomatos......   deglaze the bacon pan with a tin of chopped toms (make sure the bacon has caught a bit)  reduce for 5 mins, add some finely chopped shallot, a small pinch of fresh thyme and black pepper. V Small amount of finely chopped garlic (1/4 clove) can be added to taste - serve while shallot still has some bite

  • agreed @bertie there's summat VERY wrong with egg yolk and bean juice mixed. The eggs should be on the other side of the place from the beans, preferably with 2 sausages in betwen.

    New canteen contractor often means nice grub for a month, then back to the standards of the old contractor. I've seen it a few times.

    Our canteen is fab and also does tons of lovely fry-up. I'm high cholesterol, but I do indulge in a couple of eggs and bacon on a Friday - my weekly luxury.
