Bit of a weird one this. As a few of you know, I won't be making any Jookies for a while, and instead I've been writing a series of 6 books.

Anyway, it is a bit odd, but part of it is that there is a TV show appearing in each of the books, and it struck me that what the show really needs is a house band, though no shiny waistcoats allowed.

I could of course just make them up, but instead I thought it would be cool if I featured a real band and had them playing their own songs.

There are a few 'rules' - it has to be a guitar band, must gig, write their own songs and other bits 'n' bobbins.

Anyway, no worries if nobody is interested but the details are on the blog OVER HERE if you do fancy getting involved, and if you can spread the word, it would be lovely.

  • I'd be up for that

And when I say I, I mean we aka my band.
    what do you need sir?

The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Shame it has to be a band playing original music..
And that they have to be playing live at the mo...

Other than that I'd suggest my embryonic reforming Bobbins(North) for the name alone...

Ah, for the Bobbins, I'm sure there will be a pub somewhere along the way that I could get them booked in to.

Course they'd all have to be in drag.

We'd conceivably be up for that: http://www.bigwolfband.com/

The main video on the website's a cover, but there's plenty of original stuff kicking around as well...

The assumption there being that we wouldn't already be in drag anyway

  • I'm sure my band would be up for it if we're to your taste :)
We're only an amateur affair, but gigging regularly.  Not sure how I'd describe our stuff - sort of punk/rock 'n' roll with bits of heavier stuff and goth thrown in...
And some of our song titles are possibly quite appropriate - "She loves the pain", "Curtain twitchers"...
    Some stuff on soundcloud:
