To the newbies...   if you want access to some swiss army knife style patches to see how they are set up and configured; I'll happily share mine...
That’s very kind and yes please!
Oooooh, yes please.  Thank you kindly!

    Well that was annoying!

    Bit of trading feedback here.

I've finally picked up an LT this week. I've had a Stomp + MC6 for about 5 years so I'm currently reconfiguring all my main gigging sounds and snapshots. I'm going into the front of my JCM900 and will be doing some 4 cable in time.

I've previously tried going into the FX return of my amp but there didn't seem to be enough volume to keep up with the band - where's the best place to turn up the output on the Helix? I'd really like to use the German Xtra Blue if I can get it to work.

    For 4 cable method:

Global Settings > Ins/Outs > (page 2) Send/Return 1..4 - Choose Instrument or Line Level to suit you amp (line will be stronger)

If straight into FX return (i.e. single cable) then same page and set 1/4" or XLR (I guess that you're using 1/4") to Line

Thanks so much for this - I'll give it a go later. I love the platform but I think I've been missing out by not using the amps. I use Native a lot at home so I'm well aware of how much flexibility I'm missing out on.

There has got to be a new model coming out soon. The Helix has had a decent shelf life, but knowing Line6 of old, they’re never far away from a ‘new and improved’ model.

My old Flextones taught me that ;)

Kemper is still a touring favourite and it's a lot older than Helix.

As has been said by Eric Klein recently, the "current" Helix is actually newer than most if not all the competition. Hardware is old but the firmware is shiny new.

I play guitar and take photos of stuff. I also like beans on toast.

I didn’t know about the line setting. Thank you! Everyday is a school day.

I’d like something the size of my HXFX but can do everything my LT does.

I’d be very happy if was exactly the same software but the physical box smaller. And just a little bit more power, so I could run a poly capo infront of everything.

I think losing the expression pedals would be good, it seems to work fine for Neural etc.

Personally I never used them on the LTs I had but surely it’s even better for those who do use them, to carry a smaller unit and then have a choice of aftermarket expression/wah/volume pedals.

Oh dear god no! I don't want to take a separate wah and volume pedal out if I'm using my Helix! And I really like using it on some patches to control elements of the sound BEYOND volume and wah.

I've got the rack and the foot controller which doesn't have a built in expression pedal and it's often annoying - to get the same functions as the built in version on the Floor the external pedal needs 2 cables running to it.

I don’t think it needs an upgrade… honestly the only improvements I’d want over my LT is backlit buttons, and adjustable brightness on the screen. I have no idea why I can’t adjust brightness already!

Touchscreen might be handy for setting up patches from the pedal, but almost all my editing of patches is via HX edit. I would maybe like HX Edit on iPad though, I’d like to have it on a stand in front of me during practice, for the 1/50 times I use the helix and need to change settings on the fly.

Sounds-wise, I don’t know what could improve. I think it sounds excellent, and I’ve never had more compliments on my tone so obviously others agree. (I play via a poweramp and 2x12 so can’t speak for the cabs or IRs)

Is there a cloud type thing for Helix / Stomp etc  and are there plenty of good 80s patches
Especially Dan Huff ,Landau , Michael Thompson etc . I’ve currently got a headrush MX5 and it’s quite easy to use

Yes there are loads of free 80's and all sorts on Line6 Customtone on their page

@hollywoodrox as @jackio said there is L6 custom tone, but I find that it’s really limited to what’s on there. For all the capabilities and versatility of the helix family there’s a pretty limited selection on there and 95+% of them are dogshit. I don’t think I’ve downloaded very many at all that I haven’t either deleted or completely overhauled so they are basically not even the same patch anymore.

If the helix had the ability to upload/download to custom tone directly from the unit rather than having to use L6’s shoddy website I think uptake and patch sharing would skyrocket.

That said, since getting to grips with how to dial in patches I very rarely use other people’s patches anymore.

Hi thanks for your information that’s really helpful . I’m going to stick with my headrush a bit longer then

And SPDIF I/O. The inclusion of that on the Fractal VP4 was a clear nod to modular use.
