I hope it's not going to be a new product announcement, I've literally just bought a Helix LT (albeit second hand).
If it was good enough yesterday then it will be good enough tomorrow, regardless as to what Line 6 may, or may not, bring out next.

In one of the comments on YouTube about the potential helix news, someone said if they release a new model and don’t call it the double helix, they’re missing the boat.

I have an unexpected behaviour on my Helix LT wondering if anyone can shed any light.

    Footswitch setup is - Stomp/Snapshot

In my patch I have 4 stomoboxes assigned to the top row.  The bottom row selects the first 4 snapshots.

I've set up that when a snapshot is called it sends a midi message - did that via the command center.

I have the view set so that it is showing the stompbox and snapshot names.

Everything works as expected except - when I select a snapshot it correctly calls it up but then sometimes it switches into command center view.  What is really baffling me is that it is only sometimes, probably 50% of the time .

That will drive me nuts if I'm at a gig and it does it.

I'm assuming you're playing this at home when it does this. Are you wearing shoes when you play?

Ah I think you've solved it.

Seems that if I change the snapshot with my hand and then hold my finger on the button it goes to command center view.  I guess that is default behaviour.

It doesn't seem to do it when I wear my slippers,  but does it sometimes when I'm wearing socks.

That's good it kind of makes sense now. Appreciate your help!

Touching a switch will show any bypass or commands assigned to it. If you don't want it to do that then go into Global Menu and change 'Touch Select' to either Press or Off.

"Double Helix" would just be asking for trouble. Everyone would have a different idea of what it would mean to be "double": 4 SHARCs, 24 footswitches, 16 snapshots, 2048 presets, 256 IR locations, 256 favorites, 8 effects loops, 12 instant commands, 2 LCDs, 2 built-in expression pedals...  =)

    Ooh exciting

I don't feel like Helix is done yet, maybe something like the Playstation/Pro thing with an upgrade of hardware but running the same software, some additional access to higher res/AI-optimised models via the new hardware maybe.

But I think, just like in gaming, we're past the 'build it from the ground up' style development of the last 20-30 years, it's all iterations now. PS4 and PS5 Pro aren't completely different sets of hardware/software, one is just far more powerful than the other with additional graphics or sound processors bolted on.

I think this is the direction they’re heading. New updates still work on the legacy units, while the newer one will likely have a bigger screen, more blocks, better CPU, etc. The latest amp models are a serious step up IMO, so of course I’d want to keep getting updates for as long as possible.

We’ve really have been spoiled with how good the updates have been - there’s always something great in every release. I also picked up an LT a few months ago just to build bigger presets.

They're talking about celebrating the "global Helix community," so hopefully when the "new one" does arrive, it'll be an evolution product.

Hopefully this 10th anniversary brings a massive update with loads of great new stuff

Maybe because the UI is really good as it is and doesn't need the latest gimekery.

I think touchscreens are so baked into every day life over the past 2 decades that it's almost certainly on the cards (if there is a new Helix)

Off topic, I was trying to connect my phone to my son’s car the other evening and attempted to use “fingers on the screen” until he laughed and reminded me it wasn’t a touchscreen :)
