    Have 3 wow's!
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

All three of those are beautiful, @redrighthand - the relic job on the Tele is excellent! It reminds me very much of a picture of a Tele that was on the front page of the Beautiful Days festival website in 2006 that I remember perving on.

Here's a pic with the previous knobs. (I rescued the pointer knobs from a disused factory we were working in last year - they are old and bakelite and heavy and made-in-England and they came from a derelict place with a story, rather than bitsbox.co.uk, so they win.)

    image

I always wanted a Telecaster, preferred the JM shape, and so was inspired by the emergence of Telemasters to have a go myself. The pickup layout and scratchplate shape is a nod to Mustangs. The neck pickup is an un-covered strat pickup - both because I love the strat neck pickup sound really hard, and so that it would visually match the bridge pickup. Scratchplate material chosen purely because I like it - but the overall effect is like some sort of appliance, or car dashboard or something, and I like that too. The stainless steel scratchplate, combined with diligent copper-tape shielding, mean it's a very quiet single-coil guitar.
(It turns out that stainless steel is FUCKING HARD. I gave up trying to cut it myself and asked what felt like every engineer in Norfolk if they could cut it out for me, in vain, until a very nice man in Thetford said he'd give it a go. When I went to pick it up, it was perfect. He asked for £15, and I only had £13 with me. I've been back since to try and give him another tenner, but he won't have it. I feel like I owe him my soul.)

Deluxe body, DiMarzio Twang King and Chopper T pickups, Gotoh hardware, Mighty Mite neck. Assembled by a friend as I would have probably made a big mess of it...

The one that really appeals to me is the Telemaster Jr that Marc Rutters does. The one beef I have is that devoid of a JM trem the expanse of body to the rear of the bridge on a regular just looks to big to me.

The Rutters Jr trims a bit of that off to great effect.

Hmm , I wonder if JonManuel could cut me a body to Jr specs...

    Here's my partscaster Telecaster.

I can't really take any credit for it (I don't know if the original owner is on the forum).

I bought it as an unfinished project on eBay

    It has Fender tuners

I don't know what the maple neck is as it has a Fender label but there is no serial number on it.

It has a Spaltkings Mahogany Body (from Canada)  with a Spalted Maple top which has has truoil applied to it.
it came with a Fender bridge and a really nice case.

As there was a Fender theme I decided to go with Fender Custom Shop Texas Special pickups

I had them professionally installed and the guitar setup with 10s by the guitar tech below B&T Music in Hastings

    Thanks Rocker

to be honest I haven't even plugged it in to an amp yet and only played it a few times acoustically.

My life is just very busy and full of good intentions.

I might be open to offers...

mim body, WD V neck, I'm can't  remember what the pickups are.
It's great though. Stops me from buying a expensive Strat, because I don't think I'll find one that's much better .

  • @Gagaryn can you just screw the b5 to the tele body? Did you alter the bridge. Any pointers would be appreciated, is there a template? Or a how to anywhere?

It's pretty straightforward; the Bigsby is just screwed to the guitar body. Just make sure you centre it in line with the neck perfectly. I'll admit, I made a hash of getting things all lined up on my first try - impatient, rushed the job with a hangover! Luckily it was easily sorted when I sobered up!

The bridge does need altered, you need to remove metal on the rear of the 'ashtray' so that the strings can pass through/over to get to the Bigsby. Easiest way to do this is with a Dremel, you could manually file if you don't have a Dremel or similar rotary tool. I did it with the bridge still on the guitar - just taped an old steel rule on the body behind the bridge in case the Dremel slipped. Remember to tape over the pickups too or you will end up with iron filing beards on the pole pieces!

I'll post a clearer picture of the Bridge modification when I'm home.
